PETERSEN MEDIA- Saturday night Sean Becker and Vertullo Motorsports made the trip to Placerville Speedway and took part in the coveted Mark Forni Classic. Overcoming some early issues, the Roseville, CA driver would advance from the semi, and tally a 7th place finish in the feature event.
“I had a ton of confidence heading into one of my favorite events that Placerville Speedway holds,” Sean Becker said. “I am a little bummed I couldn’t get going through the field as quickly as I needed to and compete for the win.”
25 cars checked in for the race, and Becker would get things started by timing the Starr Property Management/Morrison Concrete/A.R.T. backed No. 83v machine in ninth fastest in time trials.
Battling some issues in heat race competition, Becker’s seventh place finish would force him into the ‘B’ Main for one final shot at transferring into the 25-lap Forni Classic ‘A’ Main. With everything hitting on all eighth cylinders in the semi, Becker was dominant as he raced his way to the win and moved into the feature event where he took the green flag from the 13th starting position.
On the racy Placerville Speedway surface, ‘The Shark’ had his elbows up as he worked around the famed bullring with precisions. Able to crack the Top-10 on the fifth lap, Becker would continue to work his way forward as he took over eighth on a lap six restart.
As the race settled into to an extended green flag run, Becker’s charge would slow a tick as he finally took the seventh position on the 15th circuit.
Battling with young guns Cody Spencer and Landon Brooks over the course of the final five laps, Becker looked for a way to sneak into the Top-5, but on this night would settle for seventh.
“We had good speed in the ‘A’, and I am excited to get back up to Placerville on Saturday night.”
