Sean Becker Rebounds for 7th Place Finish at Legends Night

PETERSEN MEDIA- Sean Becker was dejected on Saturday night. With his Vertullo Motorsports entry in prime position to contend for a win at Placerville Speedway, Becker would make a mid-race mistake that knocked them out of contention. Despite the issue however, Becker would get his elbows up and march his way back through the field and tally a seventh-place finish.

“We had such a good car on Saturday night, and I made a big mistake on a restart that took us out of contention,” Becker said. “I hate it for my guys because this car was really good. We got into a bit of a fender bender on the fifth lap and knocked the nose wing down and it didn’t event effect the car, that’s how strong we were.”

With 21 cars on hand Saturday night, Becker got off a to a very strong start as he earned quick time honors aboard the Starr Property Management/Morrison Concrete backed No. 83v entry.

Lining up fourth in his heat race, the Roseville, CA driver would finish fourth which was good enough to earn him a position in the redraw based on his qualifying efforts. Pulling the seven pill, ‘The Shark’ would take the green flag from the inside of the fourth row for the 25-lap feature event.

Getting off to a very strong start, Becker would work his way into the third position when the issues on the front stretch brought out the yellow. Getting a piece of the action on the front stretch, Becker was able to race on though his nose wing would be dis lodged from contact in front of him.

When the race came back to life, Becker was able to jump into second as he chased after friend, and rival, Andy Forsberg who led early. A lap 10 restart would change the complexion of the race for Becker. When the green flag was displayed, Becker charged hard into turn one looking to make a big for the lead, but on the slick surface, his car would wash out and it would result in him spinning off the edge of the track and bringing out a caution.

Going to the back of the pack, Becker would get his elbows back up as he began to charge his way through the field.

Getting back into the Top-10 with eight laps left in the race, Becker would get into seventh on the 22nd circuit. Battling with Joel Myers, Jr for sixth on the final lap, Myers would narrowly beat Becker to the stripe, which would be big, as Becker’s charge would end with a seventh-place finish.

When the dust settled on the race, the mystery spot drawing would be seven, and Becker would take home an extra $500 for his efforts.

“The silver lining for my mistake was we did end up with some bonus money, which was great, but I would have preferred to give these guys a trophy,” Becker added. “We have a good car, and I can’t wait to get back in it in a few weeks.”

BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-36, Wins-1, Top 5’s- 10, Top-10’s- 20
