Sean Becker Records 4th and 10th Place Finishes at HK Classic

PETERSEN MEDIA- Teaming up with both Van Lare Motorsports and Monhoff Racing for the 10th Annual HK Classic at Ocean Speedway in Watsonville, CA over the weekend, Sean Becker would pick up a fourth place finish in 360ci action on Friday, before running 10th with the King of the West 410ci series on Saturday night.

“We had a solid weekend, and a fast car both nights,” Sean Becker said. “We just barely missed the Dash each night which made it more of a challenge to battle toward the front in the main events.”

Friday night, Sean Becker and Van Lare Motorsports returned to the scene of their first victory together just a week prior, and Becker kicked the night off by timing the Pro Aggregate/All About Fire Protection/Bianchi Farms backed No. 5v entry in 5th quickest amongst the 39 cars checked in for battle.

Finishing third in his heat race, the Roseville, CA driver would narrowly miss out on the Friday night Dash, and he would find himself in the ninth starting position for the 30-lap feature event.

Amidst a very strong contingent in action to open the HK Classic, Becker was able to work his way through the fray in true shark like fashion. Getting up into the Top-5, Becker would close the night out with a fourth place finish.

Saturday night ‘The Shark” would shift gears as he climbed aboard the Monhoff Racing No. 88n machine to battle with the King of the West 410ci sprint car series.

Timing in ninth fastest in time trials amongst the 32 cars checked in for the annual event, ‘The Shark” would finish second in his heat race, and narrowly miss out on qualifying for the nightly Dash.

Lining up ninth in the feature event, Becker would spend much of his night battling for position inside the Top-10. Falling back to 11th in the early stages of the race, Becker would work his way up has high as eighth at the race’s halfway point.

With some late double-file restarts not going his way, ‘The Shark’ capped his night off with a 10th place finish to close out his two night stay in Watsonville, CA.

“Friday night we were really rolling at the end of the feature,” Becker added. “I was probably too patient in the beginning of the race and ran out of time. Saturday night I wasn’t able to capitalize on any double file restarts and cautions did not fall in our favor. Super grateful for Steve Scott allowing me to go 410ci racing again.”

Becker and Van Lare Motorsports would like to thank Pro Aggregate, All About Fire Protection, Bianchi Farms, Shark Racing Engines, CCI, Van Lare Steering Repair, and Triple X Race Co. for their support in 2020.

BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-15, Wins-3, Top 5’s- 11, Top-10’s- 13
