Sean Becker Records Seventh and Eighth Place Finishes at Peter Murphy Classic

PETERSEN MEDIA- A busy weekend of racing action saw Sean Becker take part in three races over the course of two days in Hanford, CA and Tulare, CA. The end result was a pair of Top-10’s with Vertullo Motorsports and a mechanical failure with Monhoff Racing in 360ci action.

“Friday night I put both cars in a huge hole by not performing well at the beginning of the night,” Sean Becker said. “Even thought we had to start deep in the field, both cars were good enough to move forward. We earned Hard Charger honors with the 410, and we went from 19th to sixth with the SCCT before something in the rear end let go on us.”

Friday night’s Peter Murphy Classic opener took place at Keller Auto Speedway in Hanford, CA where Becker would compete with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour, as well as with the Kings of Thunder 410’s.

Timing the Monhoff Racing entry in eighth fastest in his qualifying group, Becker would rally in his heat race to earn the fifth and final transfer position into the feature event.

Lining up 19th on the grid, ‘The Shark’ was on the prowl on the slick Keller Auto Speedway surface. Working his way forward at will, Becker would find himself up in the sixth position on the ninth lap, before a mechanical issue would force him to retire from the race early.

Also competing with Vertullo Motorsports for a night of 410 action to prepare for the resumption of the KWS schedule on Saturday night, Becker would finish seventh in his first heat race before coming back to finish fourth in his second heat.

Also starting 19th in the 410ci feature, Becker would do an equally as good of a job in the 410 feature as he again worked his way forward. Racing into the Top-10 despite the track taking rubber, Becker would work his way up to an eighth place finish and earn Hard Charger honors on the night.

Saturday’s PMC finale would take place at Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, CA where Becker would compete solely with the King of the West Series on this night.

Timing in 12th fastest in qualifying time trials, Becker would power his way to a heat race win and put himself in the Pole Shuffle. Finishing fourth in the Shuffle, Becker would take the green flag from the outside of the second row for the 30-lap finale.

When the race went green, Becker would find himself in the mix battling alongside the likes of Bud Kaeding, and Shane Golobic amongst several others. Keeping his mount inside the Top-5 for much of the race. Giving up a couple of positions late in the race, Becker closed his weekend out with a seventh-place finish.

“Saturday night the crew worked really hard to get me comfortable all night,” Becker added. “They put a really fast car underneath me, and we were battling up front with some of the heavy hitters. Unfortunately, the driver let them down and I wasn’t able to get us the finish we deserved. It was still a really solid and fun weekend with this team.”

BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-18, Wins-0, Top 5’s- 3, Top-10’s- 9
