Sean Becker Reunites with Bjork Motorsports at Gold Cup Race of Champions

PETERSEN MEDIA- Taking part in the 69th Gold Cup Race of Champions, Sean Becker returned to the seat of the Bjork Motorsports No. 7B. Running mid-pack in the early goings of his preliminary night, Becker endured a mechanical failure that ended his night, and put him in a hole for Saturday’s finale.
“I am really disappointed in myself for not getting our car timed in better,” Sean Becker said. “Brad and everyone associated with the team gave me a fast car every time out, and it was really a pleasure to drive.”
Finishing 13th with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour on Wednesday night, Becker hit the track with the World of Outlaws on Thursday night for preliminary action. Going out early in the qualifying session, Becker timed in 18th fastest, which did put him on the front row of his heat race.
With points big in the Gold Cup Race of Champions format, Becker did all he could do from the front row starting spot as he raced to a heat race win.
Sitting 15th in points after heat race action, ‘The Shark’ was locked into the Thursday night ‘A’ Main where he took the green flag from 15th. Running the opening stages of the feature battling between 12th and 15th, trouble found Becker on the sixth lap as a rear-end failure ended his night as he officially scored 24th.
Saturday night was dictated off of points, and with his DNF, Becker lined up in the fifth row of his heat race as he picked up a spot and finished eight.
Moving into the ‘C’, Becker jumped into second and kept his Gold Cup alive as he transferred into the Last Chance Showdown where he lined up 15th, and needed to finish inside the Top-4 to transfer into the feature event.
Able to gain a couple of positions during the 12 lapper, Becker brought his 2023 Gold Cup to an end with a 12th place finish in the ‘B’.
“It was a dagger to the heart to have our rear-end fail during Thursday’s ‘A’, because we had a shot to earn points and end up in a good spot for Saturday,” Becker noted. “Eventhough, it didn’t go as we had hoped, I had a ton of fun racing with Don Bjork as well as the entire Bumgarner family.”
BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-21, Wins-0, Top 5’s- 3, Top-10’s- 13
