PETERSEN MEDIA- Kicking his 2023 slate of races off with Bjork Motorsports over the weekend in Tulare, CA, Sean Becker picked up a sixth place finish on Friday night, before being collected in a wreck on the opening lap of Saturday’s feature.

“Friday night we were really fast all night, but I’m disappointed in myself for not executing in time trials,” Sean Becker said. “It didn’t put us in a good position, but luckily we were able to race well and make up for it.”

Timing the Bjork Construction backed No. 7B in 12th quickest in time trials amongst the 24 cars checked into the pita area, Becker found himself in the second row of the night’s third heat race.

Finishing fourth in the heat, ‘The Shark’ transferred into the feature event where he lined up in the 12th starting position.

As the race came to life, Becker was able to quickly race his way into the Top-10 as he jumped into eighth on the race’s second lap before finding himself in seventh by the fourth circuit.

On a very fast Thunderbowl Raceway surface, Becker continued to look for a way into the Top-Five, but passing proved to be tough. In the waning laps of the feature, Becker worked his way into sixth, where he ultimately went on to take the checkered flag and close out the opening night of the two-day event.

Returning to Thunderbowl Raceway on Saturday night for the 360 finale of the Dennis Roth Classic, Becker kicked the night off by timing in 11th fastest in qualifying time trials.

Again, finishing fourth in his heat race, the Roseville, CA driver was locked into the feature event where he took the green flag from the 12th starting spot just as he did on Friday night.

When the race came to life, Becker was hard on the throttle but was quickly hard on the brake as he saw a car flipping ahead of him. Getting slowed up as best he could, contact from behind shoved Becker into the accident and caused damage to his front end.

Heading to the work area, the damage was deemed too much to repair, and Becker’s night was over.

“We were a little off early in the night on Saturday, but by the time the feature rolled around the team had made a lot of positive improvements and I felt really good about our chances,” Becker added. “Unfortunately, we got caught up in someone else’s mistake, but that’s the way it goes sometimes.”

BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-5, Wins-0, Top 5’s- 0, Top-10’s- 2

ON TAP: Becker is slated to return to action May 5th and 6th in Chico, CA.
