PETERSEN MEDIA- By way of another podium finish with the upstart Sprint Car Challenge Tour, Sean Becker and Menne Motorsports sit atop the series standings with the series schedule now ¼ of the way complete.
“Dan and the guys gave me another fast racecar and it was certainly good enough to contend for the win on a challenging, but fun, race track,” Sean Becker said.
With Becker having immense success at the Petaluma Speedway over the course of his career, he led the way for Menne Motorsports as the team made their first appearance at the bay area facility.
On a day filled with brilliant sunshine and a lightning fast speedway, Becker would time the Mike’s Hard Lemonade/Cherry Street Mini Storage/Menne Ranch Hay Inc. backed No. 75 machine in third fastest in his qualifying group.
Racing his way to the heat race win over Cory Eliason, Becker would move into the both the Dash and the 40-lap ‘A’ Main event. With the series’ one dash format in use, Becker would technically make the dash, but due to his qualifying time he would simply be placed ninth on the grid for the ‘A’.
On a rough and fast Petaluma Speedway, Becker was gritty just as he has been is so many times before on the famous gumbo. Putting his car on the ragged edge, Becker would methodically work his way up into the Top-Five.
Taking advantage of a driver having a flat tire late in the race, Becker would use the race’s final restart to surge into the third spot where he would finish, and assume the series point lead after just four races.
Friday night Becker and Menne Motorsports were also in action as they took to Silver Dollar Speedway and participated in the track’s weekly 410 program.
Timing in sixth fastest in qualifying time trials, Becker would have issues in his heat race as his engine would lose power while leading on the final lap. Fixing the issue prior to the feature, Becker would find himself in the 11th starting position.
On a racy Silver Dollar Speedway, Becker flexed his muscle as he worked around the ¼ mile bullring. Getting up to the lead pack late in the race, Becker would close his night out with a third place finish.
“Both nights we really just started too far back to have a good chance of winning,” Becker added. “I am really happy with how we have been racing, and I think we will be knocking some wins out very soon.”
Becker would like to thank Mike’s Hard Lemonade, Cherry Street Mini Storage, Menne Ranch Hay Inc., Astro Titanium, Ponybracket.com, Hunt’s Race World, Molecule, Shaver Racing Engines, FK Rod Ends, K&N, Pioneer Auto Body, and The Joie of Seating for their support in 2017.
2017 BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-11, Wins- 1, Top 5’s- 8, Top 10’s- 10
ON TAP: Becker and Menne Motorsports will be back in Chico, CA this Friday and Saturday night as they take part in the 27th Annual Dave Bradway Jr Memorial.
