Sean Becker Stays Strong Over Memorial Day Weekend

PETERSEN MEDIA- Another two-race weekend for Sean Becker saw ‘The Shark’ put together two more strong runs as he ran fifth on Saturday night with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour in Marysville, CA before finishing sixth in 410ci action on Sunday at the Silver Dollar Fair Race in Chico, CA.

It was a good weekend for both the Monhoff Racing and Bjork Construction teams,” Sean Becker said. “Our results were pretty solid, and in both feature events I was able to keep pace with the fast cars that were in front of me.”

Climbing back aboard the Dan Monhoff owned No. 35 on Saturday night, Becker got off to a great start as he timed in 2ndquickest in his qualifying flight with 39 cars checked into the pit area for the annual Mel and Marlyn Hall Memorial event.

Taking the green flag from the second row in heat race competition, ‘The Shark’ simply needed to transfer to make the Dash. Finishing third, the Roseville, CA driver did just that and went on to finish seventh in the six-lap High Sierra Industries Dash.

The 35-lap feature event was chaotic to sum it up in a word. The opening trio of laps were mired by numerous multi car wrecks, but fortunately Becker was able to steer clear.

Battling with the likes of his close friend Andy Forsberg as well as Dylan Bloomfield, Becker jockeyed for position within the Top-5.

When the lengthy race drew to a close, ‘The Shark’ survived the fray, and capped his night off with a fifth place finish.

Shifting gears and turning his attention to 410ci action on Sunday night, Becker and the Bjork Construction team checked in at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, CA to take part in the track’s annual Fair Race with the Silver Dollar County Fair creating a scenic background.

25 cars checked in for the Sunday showcase and Becker timed in seventh quickest in qualifying time trials.

Lining up in the second row of his heat race, Becker finished third and was safely locked into the 30-lap feature event.

Taking the green flag from the seventh starting spot, Becker settled into sixth as he worked around the freshly re-worked Silver Dollar Speedway surface.

With multiple groove options, Becker was in shouting distance for a spot int eh top-five, but simply was unable to make any of his attempts stick.

When the race came to an end, Becker capped off another strong weekend with a sixth-place finish.

“I just need to do a better job or finding some different lines that allow us a better opportunity to make some passes happen,” Becker added. “With Placerville Speedway on the horizon this week, I am excited to finally get up there for the first time this season.”

BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-11, Wins-0, Top 5’s- 3, Top-10’s- 9
