PETERSEN MEDIA- An eventful night in Calistoga, CA for Sean Becker and Menne Motorsports came to a close with Becker rebounding to finish 15th in the feature event.
“We had a part failure in time trials, and it set us back all night,” Becker said. “I really need to thank everyone who jumped in and helped us get the car back together. After that, we were happy to salvage the night.”
Issues during time trials would see Becker only get one lap aboard the Mike’s Hard Lemonade/Cherry Street Mini Storage/Menne Ranch Hay, Inc. No. 75 machine. Though he would still end up 15th overall, Becker would be ninth in his group.
Lining up ninth in his heat race after repairs were made to the Menne Motorsports machine, Becker would pick up a couple of positions during heat race action as he finished in the seventh spot.
Forced into the Last Chance Showdown, the Roseville, CA resident would line the Astro Titanium/Ponybracket.com/Hunt’s Race World backed machine up in the sixth starting position.
Running in a transfer position in the opening laps, Becker would bring the yellow flag out on the sixth lap and be forced to the back of the pack. With his work cut out for him, ‘The Shark’ would feed on his prey and carve his way forward to the eighth and final transfer spot at the line and successfully put his machine in the 30-lap feature event.
Lining up 24th on the field, Becker would continue to put on a show for the standing room only crowd. On the extremely slick ½ mile speedway, Becker would quietly march his way forward on a track that wasn’t the easiest to make ground up on.
With only two yellow flags during the feature event, Becker did most of his maneuvering under green flag conditions, as he was able to earn Hard Charger honors as he finished in the 15th spot.
“Like I said, it was an eventful night, but it was good to salvage it and turn it into a positive,” Becker said.
