Sean Watts Nets King of the West Top-10 at Petaluma Speedway

PETERSEN MEDIA: Sean Watts had a very strong showing at Petaluma Speedway that culminated with a season best ninth place finish on the tricky confines in the bay area.

“It has been an up and down season, but Saturday we had some speed and were really in the hunt all night,” Sean Watts said. “The track was tricky in the feature and we missed it a little but it was a lot of fun.”

Watts got off to a nice start as he timed the Grizzly Coolers/Schaeffer Racing Oil/Rolfe Construction backed No. 98 entry in eighth quickest in time trials.

Lining up on the front row of his heat race, the Atwater, CA driver was able to keep Kyle Hirst and Jason Statler at bay as he raced his way to the heat race win and acquired enough points to make himself eligible for the six-lap Dash.

Finishing third in the Dash, Watts would put his Billet America/Darrel Varni Electric/Kaeding Performance entry in the second row for the 30-lap feature event on a surface that was a little unusual for Petaluma Speedway.

Hard and slick, the surface would seemingly be tough to make up ground on and Watts would admit he was a little too tight when the race came to life. Giving up a couple of spots on the initial star and on subsequent restarts, Watts would still manage to run well inside the Top-10.

As the race was finally able to settle into a flow and a rhythm Watts would continue to run strong in eighth as he raced with drivers like Willie Croft, Colby Copeland, and Jason Statler.

Though disappointed to fall out of the Top-Five after starting third, Watts would take the checkered flag with a ninth place finish.

“I really wanted to get a Top-Five for our team but we were really fast all night and it felt good,” Sean Watts said. “I am really looking forward to getting back to work this weekend in Watsonville, CA and hopefully we can continue to have good speed and make positive gains.”

Sean and the Watts Rolfe Speed-Sports team would like to thank Grizzly Coolers, Schaeffer Racing Oil, Rolfe Construction, Billet America, Darrel Varni Electric, Kaeding Performance, Shannon Pumps, Stealth Homes, Tee’s and Tops, Team Simpson, Kistler Racing Engines, and Stan Yockey Motorsports for their continued support.
