PETERSEN MEDIA- Tuning up for the Knoxville Nationals over the weekend at the I-80 Speedway, Knoxville Raceway, and Huset’s Speedway, Tim Kaeding would turn in a second place effort during the NSL’s inaugural running of the Road to Knoxville.

“We ran well in Nebraska, and had some trouble on Saturday in Knoxville, and destroyed a car on Sunday at Huset’s, so it was an up and down weekend I would say,” explained Tim Kaeding. “We couldn’t seem to get going in Knoxville, and we just got stuck in the wrong place during our heat race on Sunday night.”

Following the National Sprint League to the I-80 Speedway for a two-night show known as the Road to Knoxville, TK would charge from his 16th starting position to record a ninth place finish.

The second night would get off to a much better start for Kaeding and his Lunstra Motorsports team as he timed the Dammer Trucking/Folkens Bros. Trucking/Sioux Falls Ford No. 3 machine in sixth fastest.

Moving from fourth to third during heat race action, the San Jose, CA driver would move into the nightly redraw, where the three-pill would line him up in second row for the feature event.

With the race getting underway, Kaeding would settle into the third spot as he chased after Bryan Clauson and race leader, Danny Lasoski. A lap six restart would see TK get under Clauson for the second spot, though he would then have his hands full as the duo battled for the position for the next 15-laps with Kaeding ultimately getting the better end of the fight.

A late restart would give TK one shot at Lasoski for the race lead, but ‘The Dude’ was too good on this night, and Kaeding would hang on to the second spot at the checkers.

Finishing in the 14th spot on Saturday night at the Knoxville Raceway, Kaeding would get his Sunday night off to a great start as he timed in third fastest in time trials.

Disaster would strike during heat race action however, as a pair of cars would tangle in front of TK and it would result in his machine getting airborne, and enduring a ton of damage thus ending his night.

“It certainly was not the way we wanted to end our weekend especially with us hurting a car last week,” TK added. “I have a great team, and we will all work hard to get ready for the biggest week of our season.”

The Lunstra Motorsports team would like to thank Dammer Trucking, Folkens Bros. Trucking, Sioux Falls Ford, Yager Agriculture Supply, EMI, Matt’s Repair, Octane Ink, and Trac2Trail Arctic Cat for their support in 2015.

ON TAP: TK and the Lunstra Motorsports team are now set for the 2015 Knoxville 360 Natioanls. Kaeding’s qualifying night is slated for Friday night, and he will be back in action for the finale on Saturday night before running in the Capitani Classic on Sunday night.
