Second Place Run Highlights “Let’s Race 2” Weekend at Eldora Speedway

PETERSEN MEDIA- Continuing his Rookie campaign with the World of Outlaws at the famed Eldora Speedway over the weekend, Aaron Reutzel would turn in a masterful 16th to 2nd run during the rain delayed Friday night feature that took place on Saturday afternoon, before recording an eighth-place finish during Saturday night’s finale.

“We really have been kind of searching for something the last couple of weeks, and we went back to some stuff we did a few years ago and it seemed to help a lot over the weekend,” Reutzel said. “We had a really good car the first feature, we just need to put ourselves a little further up in the starting lineup.”

With heavy rains delaying Friday’s program, officials opted to qualify late in the night, and run the racing portion of the program Saturday morning. Waiting out the rain, Reutzel would time the Roth Enterprises/Jason, Tara, and Cole Roth Cattle Co./HR Livestock Transportation backed No. 83 mount in 16th fastest in time trials.

Returning to the track on Saturday, the Clute, TX pilot would tally a fourth-place finish in his heat race and find himself 16th on the starting grid for the first feature of the day.

Taking a liking to the high, scary side of the speedway, Reutzel made a ton of group up in the first five laps as he would quickly find himself up in third and chasing after Sheldon Haudenschild and Brent Marks.

Continuing to run along the concrete barrier, rubber would start to go down on the speedway as the slick surface turned abrasive.

As the laps wound down, Reutzel continued to keep pace with Marks and Haudenschild and would feel pressure from Donny Schatz in the closing laps.

While he took the checkered flag in third, Reutzel would officially be scored second, and earn KSE Hard Charger honors, with another competitor too light at the scales.

Following a quick turnaround from the day show, Reutzel would continue to flex his muscle at the Ohio ½ mile has he would time the Roth Motorsports entry in third quickest in time trials for the night show.

In a torrid battle for the final Dash spot in his heat race, Reutzel would come up just short, though his third-place finish would move him directly into the feature event.

Taking the green flag from the 11th starting position, Reutzel was again able to quickly move into the Top-10.

Though he was unable to quite mount a charge like he did in the first feature, Reutzel was able to have another strong run as he capped the weekend off with an eighth-place run.

“Big thanks to Dennis and Teresa Roth for continuing to let us have a shot on the road with these guys,” Reutzel said. “We want to get this Roth Motorsports car back in victory lane, and a podium on Saturday was a step in the right direction.”

The Roth Motorsports team would like to thank Roth Enterprises, Jason, Tara, and Cole Roth Cattle Co., HR Livestock Transportation, Roth Investments, Southern Pacific Farms, All Star Performance, FK Rod Ends, Vahlco Wheels, Triple X Race Co., AL Drive Lines, Brown and Miller Racing Solutions, Wings Unlimited, Kent Performance, Kaeding Performance, Smith Titanium, and Team Simpson for their support in 2021.

ON TAP: Reutzel and Roth Motorsports are at Lincoln Speedway on Wednesday night before spending the weekend at Williams Grove Speedway on Friday and Saturday.
