PETERSEN MEDIA- Heading into the final King of the West Series event of the year on Saturday night, Shane Golobic still had hopes of claiming the 2018 King of the West Championship, but with an uphill battle in front of him a lap seven incident would bring his first season with Tarlton Motorsports to a tough ending as Golobic would get upside down ending his night as he finished second in the season long standings.

“It was kind of a bummer way to end our year, but I really have to thank the Tarlton’s for giving me a shot at going after the King of the West Championship” Shane Golobic said. “I had an awesome time racing with everyone involved and it was really an awesome year.”

With a viable shot still at earning the King of the West Title, Golobic knew he would have to be on his game Saturday night in Stockton, CA and he came out on fire as he earned quick time honors aboard the Elite Landscape Construction/Tarlton and Son, Inc./Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino backed No. 21x machine.

Continuing to do focus on putting himself in the best position possible, the Fremont, CA native would finish third in his heat race and move into the all-important King of the West Dash.

Finishing second to Kyle Hirst, Golobic would line up on the front row alongside the series point leader, and knew he would need a little luck at this point with both drivers on the front row.

Settling into second when the action picked up, the leader would soon find themselves in lapped traffic as they navigated around the 4/10 mile Stockton Dirt Track.

Chasing after Hirst while mired in traffic, lap seven would ultimately end the season for Tartlon Motorsports and Shane Golobic as contact in traffic would get the No. 21x machine upside down in turn four and bring their quest for the championship to a close.

“It was unfortunate to have it play out like that because we really set ourselves up great all night long with good speed in time trials, the heat, and the dash,” Golobic added. “It would have been great to at least get our fifth win of the year, but all in all it was a great season and again, I am truly thankful that the Tarlton family gave me a great opportunity.”

Tarlton Motorsports would like to thank Elite Landscape Construction, Tarlton and Son, Inc., Executive Auto Sales, Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino, Yokut Gas, Pabco Gypsum, Bandy and Associates, All Star Performance, and BG Lubricants for their support.

BY THE NUMBERS: Races: 17, Wins: 4, Top 5’s: 15, Top 10’s: 16.
