PETERSEN MEDIA- With another King of the West Series race in the books, Shane Golobic and Tarlton Motorsports have another podium finish to their credit as Golobic put together another strong night that culminated with a third place finish.
“It was a bit of a wild night,” Shane Golobic said. “We got collected in someone else’s mess in our heat race and that held us out of the Dash. We got going in the feature and I got complacent towards the end and that let Bud Kaeding get around us late and put us third.”
Timing the Elite Landscape Construction/Tarlton and Son, Inc./Executive Auto Sales No. 21x machine in fourth fastest in time trials amongst the 23 drivers checked into the pit area, Golobic would line up in the second row of heat race one.
With a car getting out of shape in front of him, Golobic would find himself with nowhere to go and contact would see him get upside down and force him to the work area with damage.
The Tarlton Motorsports team would work quickly to get as much fixed as they could, and Golobic would tag the back of the pack for the remaining laps. Finishing sixth, the Fremont, CA driver would miss out on a Dash berth and would line up in the seventh starting position on this night.
Following track preps prior to the feature event, Golobic would be patient early as he let the track come to him. When the leaders found the back of the pack, Golobic would pounce as he carved his way forward and soon found himself in second and chasing after series point leader, Kyle Hirst.
Still working in traffic, Golobic would admittedly settle into traffic and a late move by Bud Kaeding would put him third at the finish line.
“We have a really good car per usual and we were really able to come forward,” Golobic said. “I am happy with another podium finish but I really want to get this thing back in victory lane for Tom, Tommy, Paul, Tyrone, and everybody involved.”
