PETERSEN MEDIA- Saturday night, Shane Hopkins took part in the 26th Annual Fall Nationals, Tribute to Stephen Allard aboard the Mike Dodds Motorsports No. 27 machine. Having some gremlins in his first night, Hopkins would finish 10th in the ‘B’.
“I want to thank Mike Dodds for the opportunity to run his car at a race that means a lot to me,” Shane Hopkins said. “We had some bad luck early that put us in a hole, but we fought hard and ended up 10th in the ‘B’.”
Battling brake issues in time trials, Hopkins would just narrowly make a heat race as he would time in 20th quickest with only the Top-20 in each group making a heat.
Lining up scratch on the field in his heat, the Cameron Park, CA pilot would do a little moving and shaking as he worked his way up to finish seventh in his heat race which put him in the night’s ‘B’ Main event.
Lining up eighth in the semi, Hopkins would go to work on the tricky surface aboard a car that he was still getting used to. Looking for a spot in the feature event, Hopkins would give it all he could, but just couldn’t get going in the right direction.
Taking the checkered flag in the 10th position, Hopkins’ night would come to an end.
“It wasn’t the night that we all had hoped for, but it was a good time,” Hopkins said. “It was a great opportunity, and hopefully I can work with Mike Dobbs and his team again really soon.”
