PETERSEN MEDIA- With a big help from High Sierra Industries, Shane Hopkins was able to put some engine issues behind him over the last few weeks and turn in an eighth place finish on Saturday night at Placerville Speedway.
“I can’t thank Chris and Shawna of High Sierra Industries enough for what they have done for my race team this season, and this week,” Shane Hopkins said. “They helped get a fresh engine under the hood of our car, and it was a huge change of pace.”
Timing in third quickest in qualifying time trials, the Cameron Park, CA driver would pick up a second place finish in his heat race which was good enough to earn a spot in the redraw.
Pulling the four pill, Hopkins would line the High Sierra Industries/ARP/ADCO backed No. 21 up in the second row for the 25-lap feature event. A false start would then move Hopkins up a row and he would take the green flag off of the second row.
When the action picked up, Hopkins would find himself battling the likes of Kalib Henry, and Shane Golobic as he fought to stay inside the Top-Five. Admittedly making some mistakes from the seat as well as on the wrenches in the pit area, Hopkins would hang on to finish with Top-10 as he took the Ron Stahl checkered flag with an eighth place finish.
“I made a couple of bad calls on our set up, and then in the seat I made a couple of bad decisions,” Hopkins said. “All in all, it was a pretty good night, and I’m really excited for what we hit on with our engine and am excited for this weekend.”
