PETERSEN MEDIA- Making a last minute decision to debut the Hopkins Racing No. 21 on Saturday night, Shane Hopkins and crew burn some midnight oil to make it possible, and though they didn’t make the show with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour on Saturday night, Hopkins was pleased with how things went.

“We were lucky to race, but I am so thankful to everyone who helped out and made it possible,” Hopkins said. “There were some gremlins, for sure, but overall I was happy with how our first night went.”

Fighting through some engine gremlins for much of the night, Hopkins got the night started by timing in fifth quickest in his qualifying group. Lining up fifth in his heat race, Hopkins would fight hard for the final automatic transfer into the feature event, but a sixth place finish would force him into the 15-lap ‘B’ Main.

Lining up third in the semi, Hopkins would look to be in a great position to secure one of four transfer positions that were up for grabs. As luck would have it, the Cameron Park, CA native would still have some issues under the hood of his car that would cause him to lose some power at times while battling for a transfer position.

Not backing down, Hopkins would continue to figure out his new car as he wound up finishing the semi in the seventh position.

“I think we will be really good once we get our engine figured out,” Hopkins added. “Things felt pretty good other than that which is really nice considering how fast we got this deal ready. Big thanks to my family, supporters, and friends for all they do for me.”

Hopkins would like to thank ARP, ADCO, C&H Veteran Enterprises, Soares Motorsports, Brian Sperry Racing, Capitol ACE Hardware, El Dorado Disposal, Gary Morgan Graphics, Jake Morgan Racing, Johnson Motorsports, MD Builders, Joe Hunt Magnetos, Image Salon and Spa, Axcel Suits, PT Shocks, Tiner Hirst Enterprise, and Petersen Media for their support in 2019.

2019 BY THE NUMBERS- Starts-1, Wins-0, Top-5’s-0, Top 10’s-0

ON TAP- Hopkins will be back in the Hopkins Racing No. 21 on Saturday night in Placerville, CA.
