Sixth Place Finish Highlights Mitchell Faccinto’s Double Header Weekend in Chico, CA

PETERSEN MEDIA- This past weekend saw Mitchell Faccinto and Tarlton Motorsports return to 410ci action in Chico, CA as Friday night saw the team finish sixth in an unsanctioned event before they ran 12th on Saturday night in KWS action.

“Both nights we didn’t time in very well, and with that strong of a field on hand it is super hard to get out of any hole you put yourself into,” Faccinto said. “We survived, and picked up a couple of decent finishes, and I am looking forward to Hanford and Tulare in two weeks.”

Friday night’s un-sanctioned event saw Silver Dollar Speedway utilize a modified All Star format that saw teams qualify and heat race in a their group, but lined heats up with no inversion. Timing the Tarlton and Son Inc./EZ Haul/Executive Auto Sales backed No. 21 in fifth fastest in his group.

Lining up fifth in his heat race, the Hanford, CA driver would tally a fifth-place finish which was good enough to lock him into the 25-lap feature event.

Taking the green flag from the 13th starting position, Faccinto would get the Drew Warner prepared mount moving forward in the feature event. Able to race into the Top-10, Faccinto flirted with a Top-5 as he would cap Friday’s Brownell/Herseth Memorial off with a sixth-place finish.

Saturday night saw KWS action take center stage for the 10th Annual David Tarter Memorial.

With 30 cars on hand, Faccinto would time in 17th fastest in time trials, which just missed the heat race inversion and lined him up in the third row of his heat race.

On a slick surface in heat race competition, Faccinto was able to advance into the fourth position which would safely transfer him into the 35-lap feature event.

Taking the green flag from the 17th starting position on an old school Silver Dollar Speedway surface, Faccinto would have his elbows up as he worked his way towards the Top-10.

Working his way into 11th in just three laps, Faccinto would crack the Top-10 on lap 13.

Slipping back to 11th on the 23rd lap, Faccinto would race hard to get the lost position back but a misstep on the 30th lap saw him fall back to 13th.

In the final four laps, Faccinto would fight hard to get back into 12th where he would ultimately finish.

“Big thanks to my guys for their hard work, and the Tarlton family for providing us with the tools we need to be competitive,” Faccinto said. “We will take this weekend off, before a big weekend ‘at home’ on May 13th and 14th.”

BY THE NUMBERS: Races: 11, Wins: 1, Top 5’s: 3, Top 10’s: 5.

ON TAP: Mitchell Faccinto will return to action on May 13th and 14th in Tulare, CA and Hanford, CA for the Peter Murphy Classic.
