PETERSEN MEDIA- Jarrett Soares and his team made the trip to Stockton, CA on Saturday night as they competed with the King of the West Series for one final time this Summer before the series takes a break.
“We got off to a rocky start during time trials, but I seemed to settle into the rest of the night and we were able to gain a few spots a finish 11th,” Soares said.
Getting off to a slow start during qualifying time-trials, the Discovery Bay, CA driver would time the American Tool & MFG/C&H Vet Enterprises/Performance Powder Coating no. 12 machine in 14th fastest.
Starting and finishing seventh during his heat race, Soares would find himself in the seventh row for the 30-lap feature event on a very fast Stockton Dirt Track surface. Turning in some strong laps early, Soares was able to pick up a couple of positions as he worked toward the Top-10.
With some drivers having issues in front of him as the night went on, Soares would take advantage as he would battle with Eric Humphries and Brent Kaeding for a Top-10 position.
In the waning laps, Soares would hold down the 11th position as the field would spread out, and would take Ed Entz’s checkered flag with an 11th place finish.
“I thought the feature event went okay,” Soares said. “I was happy with the laps that I turned in, and was happy we were able to get another full night of racing in, and keep my nose clean.”
