PETERSEN MEDIA- Bolting in his 360ci power plant over the weekend, Jarrett Soares picked up a pair of 14th place finishes against a very stout field of the region’s top 360 drivers.
“We put together some good laps both nights, and were able to roll it in the boxes both nights so in that aspect it was a good weekend,” Soares noted. “We have some improvements to make, but we showed some glimpses of speed, so I think the results will show that as the season plays out.”
Friday night, Soares timed the American Tool & Mfg/C&H Veteran Enterprises/Performance Powder Coating No. 12 machine in 19th fastest in time trials before finishing seventh in his heat race.
Lining up deep in the field for the 30-lap feature event, Soares was patient as he worked around the slicked off Stockton Dirt Track surface. Able to pick up a few positions as the race moved along, Soares would cross the finish line with a 14th place finish.
Saturday night saw Soares rip off the 10th fastest lap in qualifying time trials, before finishing fifth in heat race action.
Moving into the feature event, Soares would battle with Cole Macedo and Scott Parker as they raced for position just outside of the Top-10. Another slick surface allowed Soares to move around and search for grip as he again tallied a 14th place finish.
“I have to thank my family and crew for all they do for me week in and week out,” Soares added. “I also want to wish Bob Kelly the best of luck with an upcoming procedure he has. He is always supporting our race team, and is a good guy to have around, so we will all be thinking of him.”
