PETERSEN MEDIA- Looking forward to a return trip to Ocean Speedway on Friday night following a couple of strong runs in 360 action, Jarrett Soares would endure an opening lap flat tire which put him to the back of the pack where he would go on to finish 19th.

“We had a good car, and I owe it all to Brian Sperry, my dad, an Russ,” Jarrett Soares said. “I was expecting better of myself after a couple of good runs at Watsonville, but it just did not happen.”

A total of 24 King of the West Sprint Cars packed into the Ocean Speedway pit area, and Soares got his night started off by timing the American Tool & Mfg./C&H Veteran Enterprises/Performance Powder Coating No. 12 machine in 14th quickest in time trials, just narrowly missing out on the heat race inversion.

Lining up in the third row of his heat race, the Gilroy, CA driver would battle with Mitchell Faccinto for the final transfer into the feature event, and in the end Faccinto would hold the position and Soares would be forced into the 12-lap semi.

Looking very impressive in the ‘B’, Soares would lead the way from the start and leave the field in his wake as he raced his way to the win and moved into the feature event where he would grid the field from the 14th starting position.

When the field was given the green flag, a lock jam on the back straight away would see Soares endure some contact to the left rear corner of his car and it would cause his left rear tire to go flat. Taking a trip to the work area, Soares’ team would make repairs and he would restart from the 22nd starting position.

From the back of the pack, Soares was never really able to get going on the tight confines of the Ocean Speedway. When the track blew off Soares would admittedly struggle a little bit to make grip as he continued to try and make something happen.

Doing what he could, Soares would come across the finish line with a 19th place finish.

“I was happy with how I was able to communicate with my crew and get the car better, I am just disappointed in my performance,’ Soares said. “The Cotton Classic in this Saturday, and with my Birthday on Sunday I am hoping we can have a really good night to make the weekend great.”

Jarrett and his Jarrett Soares Racing team would like to thank American Tool & Mfg., C&H Veteran Enterprises, Performance Powder Coating, Addicted Industries Clothing, A.R.T., Bailey Brothers Racing Engines, Dickens Cider, and Walker Performance Filtration for their support.

ON TAP: Soares will be back in action on Saturday night in Hanford, CA to take part in the Cotton Classic.
