PETERSEN MEDIA- After a long winter, Jarrett Soares finally kicked his 2017 season off over this past weekend as he competed with the Civil War Series on Friday night at the Sprint Car Challenge Tour on Saturday night.
“I was happy with how the weekend went,” Jarrett Soares said. “We laid down some consistent laps in our first two races of the season. Most guys have ran all month, so I shook off some rust and got as comfortable as I could.”
Friday night in Chico, CA with the Civil War Series, the driver who hails from Discovery Bay, CA would time his American Tool & Mfg/C&H Veteran Enterprises/Performance Powder Coating No. 12 machine in 21st quickest in time trials.
Running sixth in his heat race, Soares would be forced into the B, where he would line up in the fifth starting spot. Getting going once the race came to life, Soares was able to make up some ground as he charged to the front. Finishing in the second spot, Soares would advance to the feature event where he lined up in the 17th starting spot.
On a very racy Silver Dollar Speedway, Soares would patiently work his way forward in the fast paced feature event. Able to pick up a handful of spots during the main, he would take his first checkered flag of the season in the 12th spot.
Traveling to nearby Antioch Speedway on Saturday night to battle with the new Sprint Car Challenge Tour, Soares would time in sixth fastest in his qualifying group before finishing fourth in his heat.
With only three drivers transferring to the ‘A’, Soares would find himself in the C main as semi’s reverted back to the overall time trial results. Unable to race his way out of the ‘C’, Soares’ weekend would come to an end.
“Saturday night was pretty tough with a tough field of cars,” Soares added. “I am definitely glad to be racing again, and am looking forward to getting back to it this weekend.”
Jarrett and his Soares Motorsports team would like to thank American Tool & Mfg., C&H Veteran Enterprises, Performance Powder Coating, Addicted Industries Clothing, A.R.T., Bailey Brothers Racing Engines, Dickens Cider, and Brad Scadden Designs for their support.
ON TAP: Soares will now travel to Kern County Raceway Park in Bakersfield, CA this Saturday night to kick off the 2017 King of the West season.
