PETERSEN MEDIA- After four straight weekends of King of the West action, Jarrett Soares and the Jarrett Soares Racing team will take in a couple of 360ci races this weekend over the Memorial Day holiday.
“We ran Tulare on Saturday night and it was a decent night,” Soares explained. “We ran some good laps, but 15th really isn’t where we want to be.”
With 20 cars in the house for the Faria Memorial, Soares would time the American Tool & Mfg./C&H Veteran Enterprises/Dickens Cider backed No. 12 machine 16th fastest during qualifying time trials.
Lining up sixth in his heat race on an extremely slick Thunderbowl Raceway, Soares would struggle to make a grip as he raced with Sean Watts. Finishing in the sixth spot, the Discovery Bay, CA pilot would line up in the 16th spot for the 30-lap Faria Memorial feature event.
With track prep going on prior to the feature event, Soares and company thought the track my slick up more than it did, and Soares would admit the car was a little tight.
Still able to turn in 30-laps on the ultra tough Thunderbowl Raceway, Soares would pick up a couple spots through the course of the night and ultimately ended up finishing in the 15th spot.
“We got a little racy late as the track continued to slick off, but I had my share of struggles in the race,” Soares added. “I am looking forward to getting in the 360 this weekend and seeing what we can do with the SCCT and the Civil War Series.”
