PETERSEN MEDIA- Despite having a mechanical issue essentially keep him from competing on Friday night and taking his Shaylen Raye Motorsports team out of Winter Heat Showdown contention, Jason Solwold was pleased with his teams performance and is eager to get the season in full swing.

“The first three nights they definatley knew our team was there,” said Jason Solwold. “Unfortunately we had some issues arise on Friday night, and Saturday we were playing catch-up.”

Coming into Friday’s event as the Winter Heat Showdown point leader, Solwold got off to a great start aboard his Scottie’s Plumbing/Pops Entertainment/Vic’s 66 backed No. 18 entry as he advanced to fourth in his heat race from his sixth starting position.

Lining up third in his qualifier, Solwold would feel something go south under the hood of his machine and it would force him to bring his machine to a stop and take it back to the pit area.

Scheduled to line up in the B, Solwold looked to make the call, but when his machine came to life before the race, something still was not right and he would head back to the pit area.

Though the Shaylen Raye Motorsports team was dealt bad luck, they still had one more night of action ahead of them and they worked to get their issues sorted out.

Drawing the front row of his heat race, the Burlington, WA driver took care of business as he raced his way to the win and found himself starting in the third row of his qualifier.

With most finishing where they started in qualifier action, Solwold’s sixth place finish would put him on the front row of one of the night’s twin B Mains.

Finishing third in his B, Solwold would put the Doyle Guffie’s Rayle Auto Sales/Speedmart/After Hours Painting entry in the 11th row for the final feature of the Winter Heat Showdown.

Stuck in the back of the pack on the slicked off Cocopah Speedway, Solwold would race with Aaron Reutzel and DJ Netto as they jockeyed for position. When the checkered flag flew, Solwold came across the finish line with a 20th place finish.

“We go to compete and do what we can every night and some days are definitely better than others,” Solwold added. “It was a fun trip, and our entire team really thanks all of the people who made this trip possible.”

Solwold and the Shaylen Raye Motorsports team would like to thank Scottie’s Plumbing, Pops Entertainment, Vic’s 66, Doyle Guffie’s Rayle Auto Sales, Speedmart, After Hours Painting, Triple X Race Co., Al Parker Race Engines, Wings Unlimited, Slade Shocks, Rob Graham Trucking, Wings Unlimited, Meyer Sings, and Pro Signs for their continued support.

ON TAP: Solwold and the Shaylen Raye Motorsports team will be back in action as they plan to head to Las Vegas, NV with the World of Outlaws on March 3rd and 4th.

2016 BY THE NUMBERS: Starts- 5, Wins- 0, Top 5’s- 1, Top 10’s- 2.
