PETERSEN MEDIA- Jason Statler and his DF Rios Motorsports team were in action over the weekend in Chico, CA where ‘The Big Guy’ scored a fourth place finish on Friday night before mechanical failure sidelined him early in the evening on Saturday night.
“Friday was a really good start to our weekend, and we had another good car on Saturday night, but unfortunately we had some issues in our heat that ultimately ended our night,” Jason Statler said.
Friday night at the Silver Dollar Speedway, Statler timed his DF Rios Motorsports/Amerikote/Riley Collins Auto Body No. 00 machine in 11th fastest before he raced his way to a victory in his heat race.
A rain cell rolled in over the speedway just before feature events were getting ready to stage, and though it did not look good the Silver Dollar Speedway track crew did a very nice job of getting the track back into racing shape.
“The entire track prep has to be commended for their effort on Friday night, and really for their efforts over the last year,” Jason Statler noted.
Lining up in the third row for the 25-lap feature event, the Grass Valley, CA driver was smooth on the bottom of the speedway as he hit his marks lap after lap on the hooked up racing surface.
Not making any mistakes, Statler would take the checkered flag with a fourth place finish to open up his weekend.
Saturday night saw the King of the West Series come into town for the 3rd Annual Tarter Memorial. With 34 cars checked into the pit area, Statler kicked his night off by timing the SCI/Kaeding Performance/Kistler Racing Engines backed entry in 14th quickest.
From the front row of his heat race, Statler would settle into the second spot until disaster struck on the last lap. With something going south under the hood, Statler’s machine would lock up and cause damage throughout the drive train and his night would be over early.
“I am disappointed for my guys,” Statler would say. “We have been working very hard and just cannot seem to catch a break. After a long night on Friday night, I was looking forward to the feature event but it was not in the cards.”
Jason Statler would like to thank DF Rios Motorsports, Amerikote, Riley Collins Auto Body, SCI, Kaeding Performance, Kistler Racing Engines, Simpson Race Products, Yak Graphics, Factory Kahne Shocks, Ultra Shield, Rod End Supply, Santomauro, Stephanie’s Custom Interior, and Nevada City Auto Service for their continued support.
ON TAP: Statler hopes to be back in action on Saturday night at the Stockton Dirt Track.
