PETERSEN MEDIA- One week after seeing a good night go bad at the Petaluma Speedway, Matt Peterson had déjà vu, as again he saw issues during the feature event on Saturday night with the Civil War Series take him out of a top finish.
“Two weeks in a row we have had really good speed at the Petaluma Speedway, but unfortunately it is now two weeks in a row that we have had bad luck, and no results to show for it,” Matt Peterson said.
With 26 fire breathing Civil War Series Sprint Cars on hand at the Petaluma Speedway on Saturday night, the Wilton, CA driver would time the V&H Fresh/Miller Lite/Inventory Sales Company No. p37 machine in fourth fastest in qualifying time trials.
Lining up in the second row of the first heat race, Peterson would slip back on the start of the race and run in the fifth position. Able to hand on to the spot, Peterson would earn a spot in the night’s dash where he lined up in the second row.
As the track continued to slick off and get rough, Peterson would search around the speedway during the six lap event, and finish in the sixth spot, putting him in the third row for the 30-lap A Main event.
From his third row starting spot, Peterson would get off to a nice start as the race came to life. Working into the fifth spot, Peterson would make an early bid for the fourth spot, only to see the red flag fly. Just prior to the red, Peterson felt something not quite right with his steering and took the opportunity to go to the work area.
Unable to make repairs to his machine, Peterson would opt to restart the race, and do what he could during the remainder of the race. Able to slowly work his way back forward, Peterson would fight his steering issues, and finish in the 12th spot.
“We had something go south with our steering gear, and it was something we could not change under red,” Peterson said. “It was still drivable, but it was challenging. I really want to thank everyone for continuing to work so hard. Our goal is to get out of this funk and get as many laps as we can, so fortunately we were able to do that on Saturday.”
Matt and his team would like to thank V&H Fresh, Miller Lite, Inventory Sales Company, Bear Trucking, Future Energy Savers, Transportation Services, The Oil Medics, Shell Shock, Vahlco Wheels, and MTFX Graphics for their support in 2015.
