Steven Tiner 15th at Short Track Nationals

PETERSEN MEDIA: Making the journey back to Little Rock, AR to take part in the 30th Annual Short Track Nationals, Steven Tiner would race hard to make the Saturday night feature event where he would come away with a 15th place finish after enduring a flat right rear late in the race.

“I had an absolute blast getting back to Little Rock, AR and taking part in the Short Track Nationals,” Steven Tiner said. “I spent a few years back there when I was younger racing, so it was great to get back and see so many familiar faces and make the Short Track Nationals feature event.”

With 74 cars taking part in the marquee event, each race is so important and the format creates some extremely exciting racing. Kicking off on Thursday night, Tiner would flex his muscle in his heat race as he advanced from the fourth starting position to pick up a win.

Finishing sixth in his qualifier, Tiner would be forced into one of the twin semi’s where he would pick up the win aboard the Larry Davis Farms/Wright Process Systems/Deli Delicious machine and punch his ticket into the preliminary night feature.

Unable to get going in the feature on Thursday, Tiner would finish 15th which would be a good points night for the STN format.

Back in action on Friday night, Tiner would open his night up with a third place finish in his heat race before finishing eighth in his qualifier. Finding himself again in one of the twin semi’s, Tiner would finish in the seventh spot and his Friday night would come to an early end.

Taking his Thursday night point total into Saturday’s STN finale, Tiner entered the night sitting 18th in event points.

Running a heat race on Saturday night, Tiner would pick up a second place finish and that would move him up to 13th when points were tallied and feature event line-ups were formulated.

Lining up third in his semi, the Visalia, CA driver took care of business, as he was able to race his way to the win and punch his ticket into the 2017 Short Track Nationals finale.

Taking the green flag from the 15th starting position, Tiner was able to get off to a nice start as he started working his way forward. Working into the 11th spot, Tiner would see drivers in eighth, ninth, and 10th in his crosshairs, but on the 28th lap he would endure a flat right rear and bring out the caution flag. Able to restart with 10-to-go, Tiner would pick up a few positions as he got back to 15th at the finish line.

“Saturday night we were really good I felt, and we moved forward each time we hit the track,” Steven Tiner added. “I have to thank everyone who made this possible. Rob Hart, Scott Miller, Ron McBride, and Brad Kennedy were a huge help. Looking forward to getting back to Trophy Cup this week.”

Steven and his Steven Tiner Racing team would like to thank Larry Davis Farms, Wright Process Systems, Deli Delicious, Fisher Racing Engines, Powder Coat-It, SRP, Wilwood, FSR, XYZ Machine, DMI, Dan Olson Race Products, HRP, Kevin Sharrah Designs, Prior Engineering, B&B Racing Engines, ART, System One Pro Ignition, Sweet Manufacturing, Schoenfeld, and Roseville Precision for their continued support.
