PETERSEN MEDIA: Steven Tiner made his mark in the Placerville Speedway history book Saturday night as he added his name to an impressive list of Tack Champions as the Visalia, CA wheelman clinched his first career Placerville Speedway track championship during Saturday night’s regular season finale.

“To add my name to the impressive list of Placerville Speedway champions is pretty cool,” Steven Tiner said. “I really hardly ever chase points, but we got going at Placerville this year and started running really well and ended up having a fun point battle with Greg DeCaries.”

Looking to put the title away early in the night, Tiner was able to do just that as he timed the Larry Davis Farms/Wright Process Systems/Fisher Racing Engines No. 94 in second quickest in time trials.

Tiner would successfully wrap the track title up during heat race action as his third place finish locked him into the feature event and made him the 2017 Placerville Speedway Track Champion.

Pulling the five pill in the redraw, Tiner went into the feature event focused on the race with the point battle being settled. On the racy Placerville Speedway, Tiner got off to a good start as he was able to make a couple of early moves to race into the third spot.

Patiently chasing after Michael Kofoid and Justyn Cox as he waited for his fuel load to burn off, bad luck would strike Tiner on the 11th lap as he would cut a left rear tire and bring his machine to a stop.

Making repairs in the work area, Tiner would rejoin the field from the tail where he would pick up a couple of spots and take the checkered flag with a 15th place finish.

“After we got the flat I just took it easy the last half of the race,” Tiner said. “It got a little tense the last couple of points races, and I am glad it is all over now and we can just focus on racing during the last couple months of the season. I have to thank my family, as well as everyone that supports this race team. This is really special to me.”

Steven and his Steven Tiner Racing team would like to thank Larry Davis Farms, Wright Process Systems, Deli Delicious, Fisher Racing Engines, Powder Coat-It, SRP, Wilwood, FSR, XYZ Machine, DMI, Dan Olson Race Products, HRP, Kevin Sharrah Designs, Prior Engineering, B&B Racing Engines, ART, System One Pro Ignition, Sweet Manufacturing, Schoenfeld, and Roseville Precision for their continued support.

2017 BY THE NUMBERS: Races-34, Wins-3, Top 5’s-15, Top 10’s-22

ON TAP: Tiner will return to Placerville Speedway on Friday and Saturday night for the Nor-Cal Posse Shootout.
