PETERSEN MEDIA: Getting two races in over the weekend, Steven Tiner would team up with Clayton Snow to score an eighth place finish on Friday night in Chico, CA before a tough night at Placerville Speedway with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour saw him finish eighth in the semi.

“I have to thank Clayton Snow and his team for the opportunity to get a race in on Friday night,” Steven Tiner said. “I am kind of glad it worked out because we had a good night. Saturday in my car wasn’t so good, so we have some work to do.”

Friday night in Chico, CA Tiner kicked things off by timing in fourth quick amongst the 29 cars that checked in for the track’s weekly opener.

Winning his heat race from the second row, Tiner would move into the nightly redraw where the six pill placed him in the third row for the 25-lap feature event.

As the race came to life, the outside lane would get bottled up and Tiner would actually fall as far back as 11th before he would get up to speed. Able to clear the fray, the No. 7 machine was sporty as he was able to use an early restart to make up for lost ground as he jumped to sixth on the third lap.

Working into fifth on the fifth lap after falling to eighth, Tiner would continue look very strong on the Silver Dollar Speedway as he moved into fourth on the 10th lap. Chasing after the likes of Tanner Thorson, Andy Forsberg, and Mason Moore, Tiner would look to make a big move but would end up losing positions as his brakes started to become as issue.

Back in seventh, Tiner would go on the defensive as he looked to just hang and would do just that as he closed his night out with an eighth place finish.

Climbing aboard his Steven Tiner Racing No. 94 on Saturday night in Placerville, CA with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour, Tiner’s night would get off to a tough start as he would time in eighth quickest in his qualifying group.

On a hooked up Placerville Speedway surface early in the night, Tiner would admittedly be too free for the track conditions as his eighth place finish would place him in the ‘B’, where he would take the green flag from the 11th starting position.

From the sixth row, Tiner was unable to get going as he searched the ¼ mile trying to make something happen. When the 15-lap race came to an end, Tiner’s ninth place finish ended his night.

“We were just off all night Saturday,” Tiner added. “It was kind of déjà vu from this same race last year, and we went on to have a pretty good year still so hopefully we can redeem ourselves this weekend.”

Steven and his Steven Tiner Racing team would like to thank Larry Davis Farms, Wright Process Systems, Fisher Racing Engines, SRP, Wilwood, FSR, XYZ Machine, DMI, Dan Olson Race Products, HRP, Kevin Sharrah Designs, Prior Engineering, B&B Racing Engines, ART, System One Pro Ignition, Sweet Manufacturing, Schoenfeld, and Roseville Precision for their continued support.

2018 BY THE NUMBERS: Races-3, Wins-0, Top 5’s-0, Top 10’s-1

ON TAP: Tiner is scheduled to take part in Placerville Speedway’s regular season opener on Saturday night.
