PETERSEN MEDIA: On the heels of a frustrating Friday night in Hanford, CA, Steven Tiner rebounded to finish fifth on Saturday night at Placerville Speedway.
“We had quite the night in Hanford, CA on Friday night, and we still could have been a lot better on Saturday night, but we are just chasing our car a little,” Steven Tiner said.
Friday night at Keller Auto Speedway in Hanford, CA, Tiner would fight some engine issues during his heat race, though he still hung on to finish in the third spot and transfer to the feature event.
When the feature came to life, Tiner would have early issues aboard the Larry Davis Farms/Wright Process Systems/Deli Delicious No. 94 machine, as he would hook a rut and spin his machine to a stop.
From the rear of the field, Tiner’s night would continue a downward spiral as a fellow competitor would get out of shape in front of him and it would cause him to spin for the second time bringing his night to an early end.
Making the trek to Placerville Speedway on Saturday night, Tiner would time the Fisher Racing Engines/Powder Coat-It/SRP backed sprinter in eighth quickest in qualifying time trials.
Racing his way to a win in heat race action, Tiner would move into the nightly redraw where the five pill would line him up in the third row of the 25-lap affair.
Rain showers would saturate the speedway prior to the feature event, but track officials would opt to wait out the shower and work the track back into racing shape.
Despite their efforts, the track would stay hooked up with the moisture and passing would prove to be difficult for some. Hanging in the fifth spot for much of the race, Tiner would close his weekend by taking the checkered flag fifth.
“We just couldn’t seem to get our car to move forward,” Tiner said. “Forward drive has been hurting us all year, so we will take this weekend off and see what we can do to get better before coming back to Placerville on the 20th.”
Steven and his Steven Tiner Racing team would like to thank Larry Davis Farms, Wright Process Systems, Deli Delicious, Fisher Racing Engines, Powder Coat-It, SRP, Wilwood, FSR, XYZ Machine, DMI, Dan Olson Race Products, HRP, Kevin Sharrah Designs, Prior Engineering, B&B Racing Engines, ART, System One Pro Ignition, Sweet Manufacturing, Schoenfeld, and Roseville Precision for their continued support.
2017 BY THE NUMBERS: Races-7, Wins-0, Top 5’s-2, Top 10’s-2
ON TAP: Tiner will take this weekend off before returning to action on Saturday May 20th in Placerville, CA.
