PETERSEN MEDIA: After a night of R&D at the Marysville Raceway on Saturday night, Steven Tiner came out strong on Sunday night at the Silver Dollar Speedway and finished fourth with the Civil War Series presented by Flowmaster.
“We tried some things out on Saturday night and they just didn’t work out how we had hoped, and Sunday we went back to what we had been doing and it worked out for us,” Steven Tiner said.
With 51 cars on hand at the Silver Dollar Speedway, split qualifying would be used and Tiner would turn in the fastest lap of the night overall and during his session.
Involved in the night’s most exciting heat race, Tiner would use a last lap pass to pick up the win and secure himself a spot safely in both the Dash and the feature event.
Pulling the three pill for the Dash draw, the Visalia, CA pilot would line his Larry Davis Farms/Wright Process Systems/Deli Delicious backed No. 94 machine up in the third row for the six-lap shootout.
Having a minor issue in the Dash, Tiner would finish in the seventh spot, which would place him in the fourth row for the 30-lap ‘A’ Main event. When the race went green, Tiner would work his way into the Top-Five as he navigated the ultra slick racing surface.
Battling with the likes of Jonathan Allard and Mason Moore, Tiner would run in the fifth spot as the track began taking rubber. As the rubber began going down and bulding up, Tiner would pick off a spot from Allard before the racing got single file as he took over the fourth spot.
Working on Mason Moore in the closing laps, Moore would not bobble or give Tiner the opening he was seeking as he closed his night out in the fourth spot.
“I am pleased with how our night went,” Tiner said. “I am typically not the greatest in Chico, CA, but we had good speed every time we hit the track and raced really well.”
Steven and his Steven Tiner Racing team would like to thank Larry Davis Farms, Wright Process Systems, Deli Delicious, Fisher Racing Engines, Harvest Supply, Powder Coat-It, SRP, Wilwood, FSR, XYZ Machine, DMI, Dan Olson Race Products, HRP, Sander Engineering, Sweet Manufacturing, Schoenfeld, and Roseville Precision for their continued support.
2016 BY THE NUMBERS: Races-8, Wins-2, Top 5’s-3, Top 10’s-5
ON TAP: Tiner will be back in action on Saturday night at the Placerville Speedway.
