Steven Tiner Garners Second Top-5 Of Season

PETERSEN MEDIA- With each race, Steven Tiner admits to getting more comfortable back in a car with only making spots starts the last few seasons. One week removed from a late race incident, Tiner was back in the fold on Saturday night as he picked up his second top-five of the season with C&M Motorsports.

“Placerville has always felt like home to me, and I am having so much fun racing with Cody and Mandi when they allow me to run their car,” Steven Tiner said. “I have been changing a lot more diapers than pulling tear offs the last few years, but I am really happy with how things have gone for us the last few weeks, and the only thing I wished could have been different on Saturday night was to have Cody in the pits with us, but with the first up North he had to be there.”

With 31 cars checked into the pit area, the Gridley, CA resident got the night kicked off by timing the Legacy Specialties Inc./Lund Construction/Anrak backed No. 7c entry in fifth fastest in qualifying time trials.

Racing his way to a third-place finish, Tiner locked into the feature event where he was slated to take the green flag from the ninth starting position. Biding his time in the early goings of the feature event, Tiner would start to come to life as the track got slicker and his fuel load burned off.

While running well inside the Top-10 all race long, as traffic came into play, Tiner was able to begin working his way towards the Top-Five.

Able to race his way past the championship contenders, Andy Forsberg, and Jodie Robinson, Tiner found himself in fifth as the laps continued to wind down.

Closing in on Landon Brooks who lied ahead in fourth, Tiner ran out of laps as he also had to deal with traffic in the closing laps as he came away with a fifth-place finish.

“It has been a ton of fun the last month racing with these guys, and I am glad we could start getting them the finishes they deserve,” Tiner said. “Not sure what the rest of the season looks like for me, but I do want to thank Cody and Mandi for the opportunity the last few weeks.”

The C&M Motorsports team would like to thank Legacy Specialties Inc., Lund Construction, Anrak, Sam Rhodes, Alturas Tires, Swartz Diesel, PT Shocks, Creason Enterprises, and all of their product sponsors for their continued support.

ON TAP: C&M Motorsports will be back in action at Placerville Speedway on Saturday, August 27th.
