Steven Tiner Kicks 2017 Campaign Off at Antioch Speedway

PETERSEN MEDIA: Saturday night in Antioch, CA, Steven Tiner’s 2017 season got underway during the first event Sprint Car Challenge Tour event.

“Our results were nowhere near what we wanted them to be, but we had some really good speed which is a silver lining,” Steven Tiner said. “Having speed is good if it leads to good results, but that was a positive to our night.”

All in all 58 cars checked into Antioch Speedway on Saturday night for the event, and in his time trial group, Tiner would time his Larry Davis Farms/Wright Process Systems/Fisher Racing Engines No. 94 machine in sixth fastest which was also 9th fastest overall.

With only his group time counting for his heat race, Tiner would miss the inversion and end up finishing sixth and making a trip to the night’s B Main. Picking up a fifth place finish in the B, Tiner would punch his ticket into the series’ first ever 30-lap feature event.

Mired in the back of the pack on a surface that was tough to pass on, Tiner would be victimized as a car came across his nose, and forced him to spin out. Able to keep his machine under power, Tiner would race on but would soon lose a lap.

Continuing to race on despite being a lap down, Tiner would show he had a strong car as he was able to get by cars, but being a lap down he would still bring his STR No. 94 sprinter home with an 18th place finish.

“I have to thank everyone who helped get our car ready to go for the season ahead, as well as our partners for helping me get to the track and making this possible,” Tiner said

Steven and his Steven Tiner Racing team would like to thank Larry Davis Farms, Wright Process Systems, Deli Delicious, Fisher Racing Engines, Powder Coat-It, SRP, Wilwood, FSR, XYZ Machine, DMI, Dan Olson Race Products, HRP, Kevin Sharrah Designs, Prior Engineering, B&B Racing Engines, ART, System One Pro Ignition, Sweet Manufacturing, Schoenfeld, and Roseville Precision for their continued support.

2017 BY THE NUMBERS: Races-1, Wins-0, Top 5’s-0, Top 10’s-0

ON TAP: Tiner will now set his sights on Keller Auto Speedway Friday night for the first King of Kings event of the season before traveling to Placerville Speedway on Saturday night for their first point race of the season.
