PETERSEN MEDIA- Getting the call to pilot the C&M Motorsports No. 7c on Saturday night in Marysville, CA, Steven Tiner made his first start at the track in 10-years as he took part in the Mel and Marlyn Hall Memorial with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour.
“I always have a blast racing with Cody and Mandi Geaney,” Steven Tiner said. “I don’t get to race much these days, but I was appreciative of the opportunity, and I wish I could have had a better result.”
Making his first start of the season on Saturday night, Tiner timed the Lund Construction/Anrak/Sam Rhodes backed No. 7c in sixth fastest in his qualifying group.
After shaking off some early rust, the Gridley, CA driver came to life in his heat race as he had some swift moves and raced into a transfer spot.
Once in fifth, Tiner went for more as he worked into fourth and improved his feature even starting position even more with a fourth place finish.
Moving into the 35-lap feature event, Tiner rolled off the starting grid from the 17th starting position.
On a very racy Marysville Raceway surface, the former Placerville Speedway Track Champion was on the move early as he quickly raced his way towards the Top-10.
Continuing to work his way forward, contact on the seventh lap sent Tiners through the infield backwards, and brought out the caution flag as he was relegated to the rear of the field.
From the back of the pack, Tiner had his hands full working his way back forwards as ne navigated dense traffic and endured a little contact in his charge. On the 18th lap, Tiner again slowed and as it was his second caution his night came to a close.
“I had some fun, but I felt like a pin ball at times racing mid pack,” Tiner said with a smile. “I’m thankful for the opportunity and look forward to maybe hopping in the No. 7c later this year.”
The C&M Motorsports team would like to thank Lund Construction, Anrak, Sam Rhodes, Alturas Tires, Swartz Diesel, Adrian Blanco Jewelry, Kings Meats, American Paving Systems, PT Shocks, Creason Enterprises, and all of their product sponsors for their continued support.
