PETERSEN MEDIA: Steven Tiner kicked his 2015 season off on Friday night at the Marysville Raceway as he climbed aboard the Steve Duppman Racing/Hansen Machine Works No. 10 to grab a sixth place finish during the Civil War Series’ opening even.

“I really have to thank Steve (Duppman), Scotty (McMillen), and everyone who has helped out with this 10 car,” Tiner said. “For it being our first night out, I think we were all pretty pleased and know some things we can focus on now.”

With 27 cars checked in for the series’ opening event, Tiner timed his machine in seventh fastest before scoring a second place finish in heat race action.

A little bit of luck was on the Visalia, CA driver’s side as he things went his way in other heat races, and he earned a berth into the night’s dash, where he would finish in the seventh position to start the 30-lap feature event from the fourth row.

When the feature event got underway, Tiner held strong in the SDR machine as he searched around the slick Marysville Raceway as he battled inside the Top-10.

After a pair of cautions within the first eight laps of the event, the final 22 circuits went nonstop, and Tiner came alive, as he worked his way toward the top five.

Closing in on the lead pack of cars, Tiner began battling a brake issue, that made things a little difficult on him in the waning laps.

“Everything was new, and got hot pretty quick,” Tiner said. “We probably should have had a little better finish, but once I lost brakes it was tough to pass cars.”

Getting in the sixth spot, Tiner would go after Bradley Terrell and Colby Wiesz, but he was unable to get by them, and finished in the sixth spot.

“Overally it was a great first night out,” he added. “We know we have a pretty good piece here, and now we can fine tune. Again, just really thankful to have this car to drive, and hopefully we can grab some wins and keep going.”

Steven and his Steven Tiner Racing team would like to thank Larry Davis Farms, Wright Process Systems, Elma Lanes, Harvest Supply, Powder Coat-It, SRP, Wilwood, FSR, XYZ Machine, DMI, Dan Olson Race Products, HRP, Sander Engineering, Sweet Manufacturing, Schoenfeld, and Roseville Precision for their continued support.

2013 BY THE NUMBERS: Races-1, Wins-0, Top 5’s-0, Top 10’s-1

ON TAP: Tiner hopes to bring his Steven Tiner Racing No. 94 machine out on Friday night in Chico, CA but will for sure be back in the No. 10 machine on Saturday night in Petaluma, CA with the Civil War Series.
