Steven Tiner Pockets Pair of Podium Finishes To Open Speedweek Northwest

PETERSEN MEDIA: Heading to the northwest to take part in their annual Speedweek, Steven Tiner has gotten off to a very consistent start as he has picked up two third place finishes during the first two legs of the week.

“We came up and ran with the ASCS National Tour on Friday and Saturday and had some good speed Saturday night,” Steven Tiner said. “We kicked the actual speedweek off on Sunday night and ran well at both Sunset Speedway and Cottage Grove Speedway, so I am really happy with how things have gone so far.”

Fighting fuel issues on Friday night at the Gray’s Harbor Speedway in Elma, WA, Tiner and company would come back strong on Saturday night as the Visalia, CA pilot would move from third to second in his heat race and find himself 12th in nightly points.

Lining up in the sixth row of the 30-lap feature event, Tiner flexed his muscle as he had his Larry Davis Farms/Wright Process Systems/Deli Delicious No. 94 machine working on the racy surface. Working his way through the Top-10, Tiner would end his night with a sixth place finish, and pick up some momentum heading into Sunday’s Speedweek Northwest opener.

Checking in at the Sunset Speedway in Banks, OR, Tiner would time in 12th fastest in qualifying time trials, before racing his way to a win in his heat race and moving into the Dash.

On the extremely slick and abrasive Sunset Speedway surface, Tiner would finish third in the Dash, placing him in the second row for the 30-lap A Main event. The slick surface would take rubber in the race’s opening laps making passing extremely difficult.

With the entire field using the bottom of the speedway, Tiner would stay glued to Eliason’s rear bumper, and would hang on to finish in the third spot.

Spending his fourth of July at the Cottage Grove Speedway, Tiner would continue to stay hot as he would time the Fisher Racing Engines/Harvest Supply/Powder Coat-It No. 94 in third quickest in time trials before finishing fourth in the Dash.

On the immaculately prepared ¼ mile speedway, Tiner would find himself battling with Cory Eliason and Kyle Hirst in the early goings of the feature event. Working into the third spot, the battle for the lead would get exciting in the race’s final laps.

Battling with Hirst and race leader, Roger Crocket, the trio would race wheel-to-wheel at times on the tight confines of the Cottage Grove Speedway. A near disaster late would see Tiner slip back to fourth briefly, but he would surge back into third and the trio renewed their battle.

At the stripe, Tiner would close his night out with a third place finish.

“So far it has been a fun week, and we have been racing very well,” Tiner said. “I have to thank everyone who was able to take time off of work and come up and help out.”

Steven and his Steven Tiner Racing team would like to thank Larry Davis Farms, Wright Process Systems, Deli Delicious, Fisher Racing Engines, Harvest Supply, Powder Coat-It, SRP, Wilwood, FSR, XYZ Machine, DMI, Dan Olson Race Products, HRP, Sander Engineering, Sweet Manufacturing, Schoenfeld, and Roseville Precision for their continued support.

2016 BY THE NUMBERS: Races-17, Wins-3, Top 5’s-8, Top 10’s-11

ON TAP: Steven Tiner will be back in action tonight as Speedweek continues at the Willamette Speedway in Lebanon, OR.
