Steven Tiner Runs Fall Nationals Alphabet

PETERSEN MEDIA: One night after failing to get out of the B main event, Steven Tiner put on a show at the Fall Nationals on Saturday night as he charged his way from the night’s C Main event to score a 17th place finish in the feature event.

“I was not very good at all on Friday night, and on Saturday we worked at it, and finally got going pretty good in the C,” Tiner said.

Timing his Larry Davis Farms/Wright Process Systems/BR Motorsports backed No. 94 machine in 38th fastest out of the 52 cars entered in the event, Tiner had his work cut out of him.

After finishing in the fifth spot in his heat race and missing the transfer, Tiner found himself in the second row of the C Main event. Jumping into the lead early in the race, Tiner would win the C and move to the B Main, where he would start in the 15th spot.

With his machine working very well, Tiner worked his way up to the fifth spot, when the caution flew with just three laps remaining, and needed one more position to move to the feature event.

Tiner was able to make a move on the restart that saw him surge into the third spot, where he would finish, moving him into the feature event, where he gridded the field from the 24th spot.

On a track that was slick to a tricky cushion, Tiner continued to lay down great laps, as he began working his way forward from the tail end of the field.

With cautions working out to his favor, and keeping the leaders from lapping him early in the race, Tiner was able to use the restarts to his advantage, as he worked his way as high as the 12th spot during the 40-lap feature event.

Just as the cautions had helped him work his way forward, a late one proved to be costly, as Tiner had some contact get him a little out of shape, and he lost several spots in the closing laps, as he finished in the 17th spot.

“We got going really good later in the night on Saturday, and should have maybe finished inside the Top-10,” he explained. “I had some great help over the weekend, and want to thank everyone who helped out over the weekend.”

Steven and his Steven Tiner Racing team would like to thank Larry Davis Farms, Wright Process Systems, BR Motorsports, King Racing Products, Elma Lanes, Harvest Supply, Powder Coat-It, SRP, Wilwood, FSR, Dan Olson Race Products, Sander Engineering, Sweet Manufacturing, Good Ridge, Schoenfeld, Western Metal Company, and Roseville Precision for their continued support.

2013 BY THE NUMBERS: Races-34, Wins-2, Top 5’s-11, Top 10’s-18

ON TAP: Tiner will now travel to the Thunderbowl in Tulare, CA this weekend to tune up for the upcoming Trophy Cup.
