PETERSEN MEDIA: With the Trophy Cup coming and going last weekend, the prestigious event wrapped up Steven Tiner’s 2018 campaign and the Sacramento, CA driver extends gratitude to those that the season possible.

“I have been pretty fortunate to have such a great support system behind me for the last few years, and I am thankful to everyone that stood behind me again in 2018,” Steven Tiner said. “It wasn’t the exact season we had hoped for, but we had a blast with it and at the end of the day that is why we do this.”

The 25th Annual Trophy Cup is an event that Tiner, like many others, circles on his schedule as a big one each and every year. Making the feature on Thursday night, Tiner’s Friday night would be a tough one before his season ultimately came to an early end on Saturday night as he flipped in the ‘B’ while running in a transfer position.

“Trophy Cup has always meant a lot to me, especially spending so much time in the Central Valley the last handful of years and making so many friends in that area,” Tiner added. “It always seems to get the best of me, but still extremely happy to be a part of truly an event that is bigger than racing.”

Coming in 2018 as the Placerville Speedway track champion, Tiner had hopes to defend his title as he quickly scored one of his two feature event wins at the track early in the point season.

As is the case in racing, plans change and Tiner’s career took a new turn that saw him and fellow racer and close friend, Kyle Hirst start a joint venture that took him out of the seat late in the summer as their focus turned to getting Tiner Hirst Enterprise up and running.

“Our business had been in the works, and as things came together I made the decision to put racing on the back burner and get everything in order, and I had nothing but encouragement from the family and friends that support me,” Tiner said. “To have them ready to go racing when I was able to meant a lot, and I am thankful to continue to have great people behind me.”

An annual trip that Tiner looks forward to year after year is Speedweek Northwest taking place in Northern CA and up into Oregon. Able to make the trip again back in July, Tiner performed well as he claimed one feature event win, four Top-10 finishes and of those, two were Top-five’s as he ended second in points.

“I am already looking forward to building for 2019 and seeing what we can do,” Tiner said. “Hopefully I can continue to enjoy myself racing with some great people, my great family, and great friends.”

Steven and his Steven Tiner Racing team would like to thank Larry Davis Farms, Wright Process Systems, Fisher Racing Engines, SRP, Wilwood, FSR, XYZ Machine, DMI, Dan Olson Race Products, HRP, Kevin Sharrah Designs, Prior Engineering, B&B Racing Engines, ART, System One Pro Ignition, Sweet Manufacturing, Schoenfeld, and Roseville Precision for their continued support.
