PETERSEN MEDIA: As the calendar flipped to June over the weekend, the schedule ramps up at Placerville Speedway and Saturday night as point action resumed at the famed ¼ mile bullring, Steven Tiner rallied from an early miscue to finish seventh.

“We tried some things on Saturday night, and looking back I should have just went with what I knew worked,” Tiner said. “We had a decent night, but you’re never really thrilled to finish seventh.”

Timing the Larry Davis Farms/Wright Process Systems/Fisher Racing Engines backed No. 94 entry in 12th fastest in qualifying time trials, Tiner would finish third in his heat race as he chased after Jimmy Trulli and Justin Sanders.

Punching his ticket into the 25-lap feature event, the Visalia, CA pilot would line the Steven Tiner Racing machine up in the 13th starting position for the feature event.

A very technical surface was provided on this night as the cushion entering turn on one would seemingly give some drivers fits on this night. Tiner would find himself in a little bit of trouble on the fourth lap as he would get involved in a tangle that saw him come to a stop in the middle of turns one and two.

With no damage to his mount, Tiner would tag the field from the rear of the field where he would soon come to life. Driving with a bit of a chip on his shoulder after the early tangle, Tiner would work his way up towards the Top-Five as the laps clicked off.

Using double file restarts to his advantage, Tiner would find himself back up in the mix as he battled with the likes of Justin Sanders, and Andy Forsberg. A late restart would hinder Tiner a little as he would slip back and close his night out with a seventh place finish.

“We didn’t time in well and then we were unable to get into the redraw from our heat race,” Tiner said. “The things we tried I was able to learn from, so we will come back next week and try to get this thing back in victory lane.”

Steven and his Steven Tiner Racing team would like to thank Larry Davis Farms, Wright Process Systems, Fisher Racing Engines, SRP, Wilwood, FSR, XYZ Machine, DMI, Dan Olson Race Products, HRP, Kevin Sharrah Designs, Prior Engineering, B&B Racing Engines, ART, System One Pro Ignition, Sweet Manufacturing, Schoenfeld, and Roseville Precision for their continued support.

2018 BY THE NUMBERS: Races-11, Wins-1, Top 5’s-2, Top 10’s-5

ON TAP: Tiner will be back at Placerville Speedway on Saturday night.
