Steven Tiner Teams Up with C&M Motorsports at Sprint Car Challenge Tour Opener

PETERSEN MEDIA- C&M Motorsports teamed up with longtime friend and marketing partner, Steven Tiner, as they took part in the season opener at Placerville Speedway which featured the Sprint Car Challenge Tour.

“With not having a ton of laps over the last few years, I was a little hesitant to get back in the seat for a Sprint Car Challenge Tour event right away,” Steven Tiner said. “I am really glad Cody and Mandi were so persistent because it was great to race, and I gained confidence as the night went on.”

With 51 cars packed into the Placerville Speedway pit area on Saturday night, Tiner and the C&M Motorsports team battled some engine issues early in the night and it resulted in Tiner liming the Legacy Specialties Inc./Lund Construction/Anrak backed No. 7c entry in ninth fastest in his qualifying group.

Going to work before heat race action, Tiner would come to life in his heat race as he made a couple of moves from his ninth starting position that resulted in a sixth-place finish which was crucial as it locked him into the ‘B’.

Taking the green flag from the seventh starting position in the semi, Tiner had his elbows up as he worked the Placerville Speedway to perfection and put himself in a torrid battle for the final transfer position between himself, Joel Myers Jr and reigning series Champion, Ryan Robinson.

When the dust settled on the action packed ‘B’, Tiner was successful in his efforts as he locked into the 35-lap feature event.

Lining up scratch on the field in the feature, Tiner continued to showcase the speed he had in the semi as he began working his way forward. Racing his way up to 17th by the halfway point of the race, Tiner would get better as the laps wound down despite having a shock issue arise early in the race.

Working into 13thby lap 20, Tiner would get into 12th on the 25th lap as he eyed a Top-10 finish as he moved into 11th a lap later.

Getting into a battle with Max Mittry in the closing laps, Tiner would lose out on a drag race as he capped the night off with a 13th place finish.

“I wasn’t sure what to expect considering the lack of racing I have been doing,” TIner said. “I made a lot of mistakes early, but about half through the ‘B’, I felt like my hand-foot-eye timing started to come back, and I knew I had a shot to make the show. I felt great in the feature and think we could have had an even better result if we didn’t have a shock issue. Thanks to Cody, Mandi, and everyone who worked on this thing all Saturday night.”

The C&M Motorsports team would like to thank Legacy Specialties Inc., Lund Construction, Anrak, Alturas Tires, Swartz Diesel, PT Shocks, Creason Enterprises, and all of their product sponsors for their continued support.

ON TAP: C&M Motorsports will be back at Placerville Speedway on Saturday night with their driver to be determined at this time.
