Steven Tiner Third at Tribute to Al Hinds

PETERSEN MEDIA: Rebounding from a frustrating night at the Johnny Key Classic a week ago, Steven Tiner returned to the Placerville Speedway on Saturday night where he would finish third during the Tribute to Al Hinds.

“We had a pretty good on Saturday night, but we weren’t as good as Andy Forsberg,” Steven Tiner said. “We got up to second a few times, but just could not get by.”

Timing the Larry Davis Farms/Wright Process Systems/Deli Delicious No. 94 machine in fifth fastest, Tiner would race his way to a third place finish in his heat race and earn a spot in the nightly redraw.

Pulling the four pill, Tiner would line up in the second row of the 25-lap feature event. As the night went on the Placerville Speedway would take shape and give drivers and teams a very racy surface for the feature event.

With a cushion building up at both ends of the speedway, the Visalia, CA driver would take a liking to the top shelf as he battled with Mason Moore and Greg DeCaries for most of the 25-lapper.

Getting into the third spot late, Tiner would chase after second running Mason Moore as the duo saw Forsberg set a strong pace out front.

Pulling alongside of Moore on a few occasions in the race’s final laps, Tiner would be unable to make a pass and would close his night out with a third place finish.

“We were night and day better than we were the last time out,” Tiner said. “I have to thank everyone who has been lending us a hand, and who helped us make some changes during the week to get our car better.”

Steven and his Steven Tiner Racing team would like to thank Larry Davis Farms, Wright Process Systems, Deli Delicious, Fisher Racing Engines, Harvest Supply, Powder Coat-It, SRP, Wilwood, FSR, XYZ Machine, DMI, Dan Olson Race Products, HRP, Sander Engineering, Sweet Manufacturing, Schoenfeld, and Roseville Precision for their continued support.

2016 BY THE NUMBERS: Races-26, Wins-3, Top 5’s-12, Top 10’s-18

ON TAP: Steven Tiner will be back on action during the opening night of the Gold Cup Race of Champions Wednesday, September 7th in Chico, CA.
