PETERSEN MEDIA- Saturday night at the Petaluma Speedway, Joe Stornetta made a cameo aboard the Lathrop Special No. 9n winged car as he helped the team shake their car down.
“I appreciate the Lathrop’s giving me the chance to drive their car for the night as they needed to shake some things out,” Stornetta said. “Though we had some issues, it was a fun night for sure.”
With fuel pump issues in hot laps, Stornetta and company thrashed to make repairs, as Stornetta would line up scratch on the field in his heat race after missing qualifying time trials.
Acclimating to his machine, Stornetta would move forward in his heat, as he was able to get into the fifth spot, and move into the feature event where he would line up in the fifth row, on a very slick Petaluma Speedway racing surface.
As the race came to life the Santa Rosa, CA pilot searched the slick speedway for grip, and as he got into a groove, Stornetta would expeiernce brake issues early in the event, and would ultimately pull his machine off the racing surface, and bring his night to an end.
“You hate to have a night like that, but our goal was to shake this car out, so to find some issues, I feel like we accomplished what we needed to,” Stornetta added.
Joe Stornetta would like to thank JPS Trucking, The Geide Family, OK Tire Store, iWear Motorsports, Parmeter General Engineering Service, X Winery, Bergin Glass, LJ’s Speed & Machine Shop, Rick Lawley Trucking, Black Hawk Body Shop, and The Holman Family for their support.
ON TAP: Stornetta will take this weekend off before returning to action on May 30th at the Placerville Speedway with the Wingless Series presented by Joe Hunt Magnetos.
