Strong Night Goes South For DJ Netto

PETERSEN MEDIA: DJ Netto had a very strong night going during the Cotton Classic on Saturday night, but a late race mistake saw some contact force him into the work area, and as a result, Netto finished in the ninth spot.

“I feel like I gave one away,” a disappointed Netto said. “We had a really good car, and I let my guys down.”

Lining up fifth in the feature event, Netto hung around the Top-Five in the early goings of the feature event, as he had a front row seat to a torrid battle between Sean Beker and Jonathan Allard.

As the duo exchanged slide-jobs just ahead of Netto, he took advantage and worked his way into the fourth spot, as he began to make his move forward.

As Netto worked all over the speedway, he found something to his liking as he got by Becker to take over the third spot,  and then was able to work into the second spot, as he got around Bud Kaeding.

When the red flag flew on the 16th lap, Netto found himself on the front row alongside race leader, Kyle Hirst for the double file restart.

When the green flag waived, Netto got the jump, and took the lead, as he began pulling away from Kyle Hirst, though Hirst was trying everything he could to get back in the top spot.

The caution flew on the 21st lap, and on this restart, Netto spun his tires and James McFadden was able to get the jump, and as Netto got back up to speed, Netto and Kaeding made contact, and with the contact, Netto got up into the wall, and as he came down the track, he collect Jonathan Allard, ultimately causing damage to his left rear.

Making the changes in the work area, Netto would restart, as he was able to score a ninth place finish.

“I just made a couple of crucial mistakes, but we did have  really fast car, and I have to thank my guys for working their butts of for me,” he added.”

DJ and his Netto Racing team would like to thank Netto Agriculture, Penny Newman Grain, Bogies Auto Parts, and Vande Pol Enterprises for their support in 2014.
