Strong Showing For Moore In Placerville, CA Goes South Late In Saturday Night A Main

PETERSEN MEDIA- Looking like he was primed to pick up his third win of the season on Saturday night at the Placerville Speedway, contact during a late restart would see Moore’s string of top five finishes come to a close.

“It was such a disappointing end to what was another great night for the F&F Racing team,” Mason Moore said. “We had a strong car in the feature, but contact on a late restart forced us to spin out and essentially took us out of contention.”

With 20 cars checked into the pit area on Saturday night, Moore would get off to a great start as he timed the Econo Lube and Tune/Geico Local Office/LRB Race Products backed No. x1 machine in fifth fastest in qualifying time trials.

A racy track during heat race action saw Moore get off to a great start as he jumped into the lead and never looked back. Pick up the win, Moore would move into the redraw where the one pill would line the NAAKE Suspension/Lucas Oil/Moore Insurance Services No. x1 machine up on the pole for the 25 lap feature event.

As the night moved along, the track would continue to slow down and go slick, making it very tricky for drivers in the feature event. After a stoppage on the race’s initial star, Moore would jump out to the lead and work his way out to a very sizeable lead.

With drivers fighting for position behind him, Moore would continue to gap the field until the yellow flag flew on the 16th lap. With the field assembling in double file formation, Moore would get the jump out of turn four. As the field worked through turns one and two, contact with another competitor would send Moore’s machine into a spin and the caution would again fly.

Restarting from the tail end of the field, the Princeton, CA driver would work his way back up into the Top-10 but with a car spinning in front of him, Moore would get on the binders and end his night with an 11th place finish.

“I don’t think the contact was intentional, but it is still disappointing,” Moore said. “We have a great group assembled, and we are fast so hopefully we can get back on track this weekend.”

Moore would like to thank Coors Light, Econo Lube and Tune, Geico Local Office, LRB Race Products, NAAKE Suspension, K&N, Selover Paint and Body, Lucas Oil, ITC Service Group, Saureel, and Moore Insurance Services for their support.

ON TAP: Moore and the F&F Racing team will be in action on Saturday night at Placerville Speedway, and will make a return trip to the track on Monday night for the tracks’ annual 4th of July race.
