Strong Weekend Sees Forsberg and C&M Motorsports Record Sixth Win of Season

PETERSEN MEDIA- Meeting up with the Civil War Series presented by Flowmaster for rounds two and three of the 2016 season, Andy Forsberg and his C&M Motorsports team picked up the win on Saturday night during the 17th Annual Mel Hall Memorial, and finished second during the annual Silver Dollar Fair race.

“It was cool to win our second Mel Hall Memorial, and get the old school flag that came with it,” Andy Forsberg said. “The guys gave me a great car all night long and we were in the right place to take advantage of some luck, and go on to grab another win on Saturday night.”

With 39 cars on hand for the 17th running of the Mel Hall Memorial, Forsberg got his night started off by timing the PitStop USA/PT Shocks/Autism Awareness No. 7c machine in fourth fastest during qualifying time trials.

Lining up in the second row of his heat race, Forsberg would finish in the fourth and final transfer spot, and would earn a spot in the Dash based on his qualifying effort.

Starting and finishing in the third spot, the Auburn, CA driver would line up in the second row for the 30-lap feature event. Fighting with Bradley Terrell for the second spot during the race’s opening laps, Forsberg would get the spot and begin to chase after Cory Eliason who had built up a monster lead.

The caution would fly on the 20th lap and this would put Forsberg next to Eliason for the next restart, but during the stoppage Eliason too would come to a stop with a flat tire and Forsberg would be the new leader.

Fending off Shane Golobic during the final 10-laps of the race, Forsberg would get his machine out of shape on the race’s final lap but would hang on to grab the win.

Making the trip up to the Silver Dollar Speedway on Sunday night for the Silver Dollar Fair Race again with the Civil War Series a packed pit area made up of 51 cars would see ‘Mr. Excitement’ time the Pacific Highway Rentals/Swartz Diesel/Velocity Race Gear entry in third fastest in his qualifying flight.

Finishing fourth in a very spirited heat race, Forsberg would sneak into the dash for the second night in-a-row, where his sixth place finish would place him in the third row for the feature event.

With the waiving of the green flag, Forsberg made quick work on the slick surface as he got around Andy Gregg to take over the second spot as he again found himself chasing after Cory Eliason.

On a slick track with a huge cushion built up, Forsberg would hang with Eliason lap after lap as rubber started to go down on the speedway.

Getting inside of the leader on a pair of occasions, Forsberg could not get clear of him, and soon was forced to get in line with the track conditions. Though he came up one spot short, Forsberg would close out a very strong weekend with a second place effort.

“We had another good car on Sunday night, and we were making up some ground on Cory Eliason, but he figured me out and kept me behind him,” Forsberg said. “We were good and then the track took rubber and we got in line. It was a great weekend for this team, and I am looking forward to this weekend.”

The C&M Motorsports team would like to thank PitStopUSA, Autism Awareness, Pacific Highway Rentals, PT Shocks, Swartz Diesel, and Velocity Race Gear and all of their product sponsors for their continued support.
