Summer Nationals Top-10 for Mitchell Faccinto

PETERSEN MEDIA- Making a return trip to Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, CA on Friday night, Mitchell Faccinto and the Tarlton Motorsports team would pick up an eighth-place finish during Friday’s Summer Nationals opener before rain cancelled Saturday’s event.

“Friday night we were really good early in the night, but it just took me too long to get going in the feature,” Mitchell Faccinto said. “Before the rain came on Saturday, I think we were just as good, and the track was playing more info our favor.”

With 61 cars on hand for the Summer Nationals, Faccinto timed the Tarlton and Son Inc./EZ Haul/Executive Auto Sales backed No. 21 in fastest in his qualifying group which led to him starting on the pole of his heat race.

Losing the drag race into turns one and two when heat race action came to life. Faccinto would fall back into second. Hanging to the second position, Faccinto would punch his ticket into the feature event, and also solidify himself a spot in the nightly redraw.

Pulling the four, Faccinto would roll off the starting grid from the outside of the second row. When the green flag was displayed to the field, the Hanford, CA runner was up top making moves as he worked his way into second until the first stoppage of the race.

Slipping back to third when the race came back to life, another restart saw Faccinto fall back to fifth and then sixth. Struggling to work his way forward, Faccinto would find himself back in eight as he was able to make some traction and keep his mount inside the Top-10.

Though he could not get back any of the lost trac position, Faccinto would maintain as he capped Friday’s feature off with an eighth-place run.

“I was happy with how things went for the most part, and really think we had things going our way on Saturday,” Faccinto added. “Looking forward to getting the 410ci engine back in this weekend with some huge races coming up.”

BY THE NUMBERS: Races: 18, Wins: 1, Top 5’s: 6, Top 10’s: 11.

ON TAP: Mitchell Faccinto will return to action on Friday night at Ocean Speedway and on Saturday at Placerville Speedway.
