PETERSEN MEDIA: Continuing to race in his home state over the weekend, Tanner Carrick and his Carrick Motorsports team spent the holiday at Placerville Speedway where he would pick up a 12th place finish.
“It wasn’t too bad of a night on Saturday,” Tanner Carrick said. “I kind of hurt myself in time trials, and it forced us to have to win our heat to get a dash spot or start kind of deep in the field, and I wasn’t able to get the job done in our heat.”
Timing the CVC/Cemex/Interstate Oil backed No. 83T machine in second fastest in his time trial group, Carrick would line up in the third starting position in the night’s final heat race.
Getting into second, Carrick would mount a charge on race leader, Tony Gualda as they encountered traffic in the 10-lap race. Unable to get by, Carrick’s second place finish would put him in the sixth row of the 30-lap feature event.
On the slick surface, Carrick would spend the entirety of the night jockeying for position between the 11th and 12thspots.
Battling with the likes of Andy Forsberg and Michael Sellers, Carrick just could not make his way inside the Top-10 as he searched all over the famous Northern California bullring.
When the 30-lap feature event came to an end, Carrick would take the checkered flag in the 12th spot, as he now sets his sights on Marysville Raceway this Wednesday night.
“One of those nights where it was really hard to get going in the feature,” Carrick said. “If I get us into the Dash, we probably finish up there because we were good, we just couldn’t get going.”
