PETERSEN MEDIA: Getting one final night of action in at Placerville Speedway before this weekend’s marquee Dave Bradway, Jr Memorial, Tanner Carrick would battle some gremlins and still come away with a fifth place finish.
“We started having an issue at our last race in Marysville, CA and we thought we fixed it,” Tanner Carrick said. “It gave us some fits in our heat, and then again the feature, but we were still able to come away with a Top-5.”
Getting his night started off in fine fashion, Carrick would best the field of 31 cars in time trials as he earned ADCO Driveline and Exhaust Quick Time Honors aboard the CVC/Cemex/Interstate Oil backed No. 83T machine.
Lining up fourth in his heat race, Carrick would finish in the third position and safely transfer into the feature event. By way of his qualifying time, he would also earn a spot in the redraw where his seven-pill placed him in the fourth row to start the 25-lap feature event.
As the race got underway, Carrick would begin working his way into the Top-Five, though noted his engine would still stumble a little at times. Just before the race’s midway point, Carrick would hook up in a very entertaining battle with Kalib Henry, as the duo jockeyed for the position in the Top-Five.
Exchanging spots at both ends of the track, the duo put un quite a show until the race’s first caution was needed.
Back underway, the double file restart would not allow for the battle to continue, though Carrick would take the fifth position as he continued to work around the ¼ mile bullring.
Doing what he could despite not being a full power, Carrick would cap the night off with his 13th Top-5 finish of the season.
“Big thanks to my guys, for doing all they could do get us right,” Carrick said. “I felt really good in the heat and the feature, but just didn’t quite have the power needed to get us by some of those guys. Looking forward to another big race at Placerville this weekend.”
Tanner Carrick would like to thank CVC, Cemex, Interstate Oil, Conti, Harris and Sloan, Emerald, Timberworks Construction, Kaeding Performance, and Arai for their continued support
