Tanner Carrick 5th at Placerville Speedway

PETERSEN MEDIA: Returning to Placerville Speedway for the first time in nearly a month, Tanner Carrick battled up front during the ‘Legends Night’ feature event before ultimately bringing his night to an end with a fifth-place finish.

“We were really good on Saturday night at Placerville Speedway, but a late restart cost me a couple of positions and knocked me off the podium,” Tanner Carrick said. “I was happy with our speed, and I’m excited to defend the Posse Shootout title this weekend.”

With 40 cars on hand for the track’s point season finale, the Lincoln, CA driver timed the CVC/Cemex/Interstate Oil backed No. 83T in third fastest in his qualifying flight.

Lining up in the second row of his heat race, Carrick showcased a very strong car in heat race action as he guided himself to the win and transferred into the nightly redraw to set the first four rows of the feature event line up.

Pulling the six, Carrick took the green flag from the third row on the slick Placerville Speedway surface and was in the mix all night, as he raced hard inside the Top-5 battling the likes of Michael Faccinto, Andy Forsberg and Landon Brooks.

Spending much of the night running in fourth, Carrick took advantage of a multi car pile car pile up that eliminated second running Andy Forsberg, as he took over the third spot with just a few laps left the race.

Continuing to run in third, Carrick had a slight misstep that cost him a little track position as he slipped back to fifth with four laps left in the race, and that is where he went on to finish.

Carrick and company were also in action on Friday night as they checked in at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, CA to take part in the Tyler Wolf Memorial.

With 50 cars in the pit area on Friday night, Carrick timed in third quickest in time trials, and with the track utilizing the Cycleland Speedway format to honor the late Lowell Mourall, Carrick was locked into the Dash as well as the feature event.

Finishing second in the Dash, Carrick was slated to take the green flag from the sixth starting position as the lock in cars lined up behind the four heat race winners on this night.

From his third row starting position, Carrick’s entry proved to be a little too tight to his liking to maneuver through traffic. Battling hard to keep a spot inside the Top-10, Carrick ultimately fell out of it on the 24th laps as he capped his Friday off with an 11th place finish.

“Friday night we just tightened up a little too much for the ‘A’, but we were fast all night leading up to the feature,” Carrick said. “We have some big races on tap the next few weeks and I am looking forward to them all.”

Tanner Carrick would like to thank CVC, Cemex, Interstate Oil, Conti, Harris and Sloan, Hanson Truss, Eddie’s Lincoln Auto Body, Simpson Strong-Tie, A&A Concrete Supply, Kaeding Performance, and Arai for their continued support.

BY THE NUMBERS: Starts: 36, Wins: 3, Top 5’s: 17, Top 10’s: 22

ON TAP: Tanner Carrick will return to Placerville Speedway this Saturday and Sunday for the Nor*Cal Posse Shootout.
