PETERSEN MEDIA: Making some wholesale changes after Fall Nationals, Tanner Carrick had a strong night at the Trophy Cup Tune-Up in Tulare, CA as he raced his way to a fifth-place finish in the final event leading into this week’s 29th Trophy Cup.
“We made the decision to make some big changes heading into Tulare, CA on Saturday night to get us ready for Trophy Cup,” Tanner Carrick said. “We were all happy with how things went, and I think with some minor adjustments we will be even better when we get back to racing on Thursday.”
Earning quick time honors in his qualifying group, the Lincoln, CA driver lined up in the second row of his heat race. Racing to a third place finish, Carrick was in the redraw where the three pill lined him up in the fifth starting spot for the 25-lap feature event.
When the race went green, Carrick slipped back to fourth as he worked his way around the high banked 1/3 mile oval. Battling hard with the likes of Tim Kaeding and Justin Sanders, Carrick hung tough in fourth.
At the halfway point of the feature, a close-knit battle with Justin Sanders saw Sanders take over fourth and drop him back into fifth.
Running strong inside the Top-Five, Carrick was able to fend off DJ Netto and Cole Macedo in the waning laps of the feature event, as he pocketed a fifth-place finish in the Trophy Cup tune up.
‘We don’t get a chance to run in Tulare, CA much during the season, so to get a full night in before one of the biggest races of the year is huge,’ Carrick added. “I was happy with what we did last week leading up the race, and we did a lot of good things through the night, so I am excited to see how we stack up this week.”
Tanner Carrick would like to thank CVC, Cemex, Interstate Oil, Conti, Harris and Sloan, Hanson Truss, Eddie’s Lincoln Auto Body, Simpson Strong-Tie, A&A Concrete Supply, Kaeding Performance, and Arai for their continued support.
BY THE NUMBERS: Starts: 44, Wins: 3, Top 5’s: 19, Top 10’s: 26
